They look good but those rear rims look very vulnerable/exposed, or is it just the picture? what width is the wheel/tyre?

The rear tyres look too narrow. Any slight kerbing will end in tears.Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 9:36 pmThey look good but those rear rims look very vulnerable/exposed, or is it just the picture? what width is the wheel/tyre?

Sometimes you have to compromise to do something different - it would have been easy to throw on some 19” ET35’s but was never going to be easy with an ET27 rear when lowered on H&R
I had a 4 vert with 20’s dropped on its ass and didn’t kerb it in 3 years - to be fair, if you kerb your alloys you’ve got to ask yourself whether you should even be driving...

I wasn’t thinking about kerbing, on the roads up here I’d be worried about potholes or stones etc on the road, the rim just looks so close to the tarmac with what looks like little or no protection from the picture. I was wondering more if a wider tyre would protect the rim better

Exactly - it’s only when I saw so many posts about how these would only fit a Z4M unless loads of work required on an E85/E86 that I wanted the challenge
They came with 255/35 fitted but under compression they touched the arch lip - so a smaller/better angled sidewall would be required unless rolling the arches, so I went for the most dramatic tyre side first to confirm they can be used (225/35 on a 9.5 rim) and will move up to a 235>245 maybe even 255/30 each change depending on rubbing

I do like the look of those wheels on the e85 as I once thought about getting a set myself, but, after all the faffing about I had getting style 32's to fit, i just couldn't be bothered with the hassle again. Sensible wheels from now on for me

Finally fitted the powerflex lollypop bushes.
Turn-in feels much better (even though I have my squishy winter tyres on) and the tram-lining has reduced.
Just need to do the front ARB bushes now. They are very oval shaped! Big ol' gap at one side of the ARB. Not sure if I should go poly or rubber for those.

What have you done to your car today?
So tried to get my car on my mates lift, to do the Gearbox oil. Had to use wood to lift the car high enough to get the lift pads clearance under the jacking points.
But
The lift has adjustable arms, long at rear and short at the front. But I could not get the arms to fit my jacking point pattern, both driving in and reversing in. Bugger. So I will try it on my drive.
Did get a quick snap of our cars together!

Assembled some new front shocks with springs, all new bits! Will be fitting them tomorrow along with new lower control arms, track rod arms and drop links.
Quick question for you lot who have got the front reinforcement plates... What do you do about this screw/stud that is circled in the photo? Just unscrew it and leave it out?
