Then got quoted £500 to respray both sides and bonnet which I think is very reasonable so that'll be next on the list after all the geometry is sorted and I've fitted my replacement wings. If this rain stops I'll change my drivers side bowden cable.
Was that John at ProGrip? Where did you get the paint job quote if you don't mind me asking sounds very reasonable

Yes mate, john at pro grip. Got it booked back in now to get the rear sorted out. Got the paint quote from centreline in Larkhall. It was my mates father in laws business but he's retired now and the guy that worked for him took the business on. That was my original quote before he retired and the other guy said he'd keep it the same as I suspect it would've been a bit more than that. Going to get another quote elsewhere for a comparison.

Ordered some Textar rear disks and pads. One of the rear disks was an Advisory on the MOT, they’re ok, but I’d rather do them.

As the car is currently on axle stands, with no wheels anywhere to be seen, seemed like a sensible job to get sorted

I've ordered these:

I'll let you know how they fit.
Yes please. I am interested to see how they look.
OK, they arrived today and I tried them out. They fit well! I doubt they would come out in normal driving.

How will this go at MOT time?
Will it be noted that part of the caliper is missing?

So apparently if you fit brass bushings, you don't need the retainer. Maybe that can be explained? Surely others have done this?

I get that fitting this brass bushing probably takes out a lot of the movement between the caliper and the carrier but it would then not be as designed. Maybe a tester would not bat an eyelid about it not being there, maybe they would if it was spotted, but what about legal implications if there is an accident? It could be argued that the clip is there for safety.

Not sure, so we'd have to refer to the MOT manual. Plenty of ppl do it.

An afternoon of enjoyable works today:

New wipers (first time its rained properly)
When it stopped raining:
New rear shocks (Sachs), top mounts, reinforcing brackets, bump stops, covers etc.
While I was at it I made sure the rear shelf clips were back in as I'd dropped some previously down the holes!

Then usual fluids check etc

Ended the day dropping the sodding brake reservoir down this hole- which will be filled with something in future :headbang:

Off with the old, on with the new...
Picked up a set of refurbed Style 230’s with 235/35ZR19 Pirelli Dragon Sports front and 255/30ZR19 P Zero’s on the rear all with about 60% tread remaining. AUD$1000. Reasonable I think. Also removed the drivers side dash vent and repaired cup holder which had detached itself. Unfortunately the lower speed nut and plastic broke away. It’s been glued previously so will need a repair. Does anything ever go to plan?!!
