I put one back in yesterday, its all right having the sound inside, but you want that noise outside so all can hear, and yes its a bit much inside with hood up under acceleration

You need to cut a thin sheet of plywood (or similar) to the same size as the plate and then hold the two tightly together while you gently flex the plate back into shape.ProfCJJ wrote: ↑Sun Feb 17, 2019 3:01 pm Well today I battled removing my “old” number plates to be compliant with the spacing rule - well until after tomorrow’s retest anyway!
I only just realised that the place that repaired my front bumper must have taken my (acrylic) front number plate and have replaced it with a v much thinner aluminium backed plate - I didn’t know you could get them. The upshot is that although they fit really well with the amount of double sided tape on the back I struggled to budge it.
Do you reckon I can bend it back into shape to reuse or will I need to order another??

I know it is after the event but if you saw through the pads with fishing line or that plastic banding they use on pallets you would have got it off without “ gorilla-ing it”

Gave it a spring clean this afternoon.
Clay, Diamond White using my cheap no brand buffer then Collinite 427 (I think).
Still need to Milton and fabrasil/shoe polish the roof and sort the misty headlights. Gave them a go today with wet n dry but not enough me thinks.
Gave the engine bay it's first once over and the interior got some badly needed attention. Finally got around to cleaning my little boys fingerprints off the windows as well.
Didn't even touch the wheels as they'll hopefully get a full wheel off clean and some protection soon.

I didn't have any to hand, I tried nylon chord (all I had) but it didn't have much effect - brute force after heating with a hair drier was plan B!

MOT on Saturday and the car has been sitting around for 6 weeks; made sure the battery had a full charge on Saturday - it was given fresh rubber a few weeks ago so fingers crossed it should be all good. I let it warm up and then took it for a bit of a blast. Also used it on the commute this morning all in the interests of making sure the pipes were clear so it would have no trouble with emissions Also fitted a brodit proclip mount and attached a quad lock mount to it to serve as a phone holder.
I’d picked up a 13 MINI JCW which is was using for the commute hence not really using it much - fun little car but likes a sip of oil (within BMW tolerances) - having taken it out last night was genuinely quite excited to use the z4 this morning; it’s the earliest i’ve left the house in weeks - i’d forgotten how sweet that engine is..

Fitted mine years ago. Whats the issue you're having? I removed my front bumper to fit the scoop as it's much easier than trying to mess about through the kidney grille hole.

yeah I'm messing about through the kidney grill hole!
I've photos with it fitted here - viewtopic.php?f=13&t=109608&start=30
It's at an odd angle as I wanted all three holes flush to rubber so it would screw in firmly without gaps down the sides. As one can see, that's a fail, especially the top screw! How is yours angled?....

It was sitting correctly. Here's a photo from when I installed it.
I've just removed mine this afternoon as the paint was flaking off, so I'm sanding and repainting it.Vijay wrote: ↑Fri Feb 22, 2019 4:57 pm yeah I'm messing about through the kidney grill hole!

Thanks, does seem higher up than mine.
Can I ask: the third screwhole that is at the bottom as opposed to the two on the tab, how far is it from hole where the original pin went in for the OEM airscoop

I'm not sure, I'll check tomorrow when I refit the scoop and post some more photos of the screw locations

Two pics of mine if that helps. It’s a tight fit, you’ll want a long pozi and a stubby too. Luckily I’m used to working on boilers so have about ten joints per finger

@Ben would it be possible to take a picture of the holes you’ve removed the screws from; that may help as well!
