Change the DISA using the X8R kit. Probably the most straight forward car job I have ever done.

Took me all day, but well worth it as I had a little helper. 7-y-o lad from across the road. Kept him busy doing up all the nuts and bolts but he couldn't budge the knuckle bolts.
I am sitting here now feeling I've achieved more than just fettling the car.
I fitted the correct clip for my smaller new battery. Small job, much satisfaction.

In actual fact, he helped remove and refit the struts, drop links etc, but I sent him home while I swapped the springs over.steve_naive wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 10:59 am'Ok little Johnny, these are called spring compressors. The kit I use is safe and I do it in a safe direction, jut in case, but if something went wrong I would never forgive myself!
He came back and told me all about the lovely ham rolls he'd had for lunch while I was wrestling with springs. Did I see any of said rolls? Not a crumb! Methinks we need to go back to apprentice basics.

I hit a big pothole the other day so took her in four wheel alignment and all wheel balanced (£154) I'm glad I did as the tracking was all over the place.

What have you done to your car today?
I've spent almost a whole day changing out a wheel speed sensor. The bolt was totally rounded and wouldn't budge. I ended up using a Dremel to cut the sensor away from the bolt and left the bolt in the hub. Even the sensor itself took some persuasion to get away with 120,000 miles of dirt holding it in. After changing it I've found that the problem still exists... I'm starting to think reluctor ring needs changing as it looked pretty rusty in there. Does anyone know what size socket the rear axle nut needs on a 2.0? I think its a 12 point 36mm but if anyone can confirm I'd appreciate it.
Cheers.
Cheers.
