What have you done to your car today?
New project got some love today
Roof motor moved in boot
New rear springs, shocks, arb bushes, drop links and general clean up. Fitted 15mm spacers. Bled the brakes and changed diff oil.
Saturday onto the front suspension/brakes
Surprised how bad the rubber etc was, shocks were useless

I believe Dave has an e85 which can go up/down without having to split the atom ala e89

Ok, but the same still held true - I didn't think there was any way to get the roof up without a 3rd party device, which on the E85 is much cheaper (e.g. the RCH+) than the E89 smarttop option. If there's a way to code to get the roof up on an E85 I must have missed this revelation . Or am I just getting confused in my old age and with the E85 you could raise the roof but had to hold the button on the fob (as opposed to the 3 clicks with the RCH+). It's been a long time since my E85 days, and even the E89 is gone now so all the 'Zed' knowledge is slowly draining away...
I feel like that house guest that's overstayed their welcome...

You can code the E85's GM5 to open and close the roof with the key. I coded my 2003 with NCS Expert and it work pretty good most of the time and it even works with my aftermarket keys.enzed4 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 2:07 amOk, but the same still held true - I didn't think there was any way to get the roof up without a 3rd party device, which on the E85 is much cheaper (e.g. the RCH+) than the E89 smarttop option. Fitted a homemade clutch stop using this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163377417955
Also I fixed the broken glovebox hinge with the aid of some swearing and superglue
Finally, anyone know what this is? I found it in the driver's side footwell just lying on top of the floor mat. (Finger for reference).

Awesome, thanks mate!
I guess I can assume that since all 8 of the tyres on my driveway are still inflated this didn't come from either of my cars

Hoping to get my e86 back from the local indi, having new eibach back springs / b4 stocks / brembo brake disks and pds fitted. Also fitting updated power flex bushings to the rear shock mounts and both ARBs….. can’t wait to see how it drives/looks and feels
Will update with photos once I’ve picked it up, but seemed appropriate to get onto this page seeing as my licence has ‘666’ in it

No probs - I actually got under the car to measure so I was sure, but the eBay links are as follows:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PFR5-504-18- ... 635-2958-0
These are listed as front, but they actually fit z4 rear / or e28 front.

These are the front.

Off with the 108's and runflats and on with a lovely set of refurbished MV2 with MPS4s from BM Autosport. Well pleased and highly recommend this company - fair pricing, good service and very fast delivery While I was at it a new set of OEM bolts and wheel locks too.... actually there were no locks on the 108s Ride is so much better............
To be fair, ghastly runflats apart, the 108s aren't too bad and look good from a couple of feet away. They were refurbished poorly by previous owner and powder coated in one piece over the titanium bolts. Now I know that's one way to help prevent corrosion on these wheels, but no attempt had been made to fix the odd curbing scrapes first and I have trouble with that Sadly the Potenzas are nearly new too... probably keep this set for the Winter.
Also fitted my BMW TomTom off my old E89 - they were occasionally fitted by BMW on non iDrive cars. A mate printed one of the great mounts designed by Conrod - se thread "E85 Phone Charger and Amazon Echo Auto Mounts". Wired into an ignition switched supply - piggyback fuse and 12v to 5v inverter. Rock solid mount, works a treat thank you Alan

Looking good on the new shoes!
Got my rims from BM autosport too, very pleasant experience!
Good luck with splitting the 108s if you decide to referb, although sounds like you don’t intend to….. yet anyway haha
