What have you done to your car today?

Oil service on the son’s roadster today. What a simple but very satisfying job. The car just seemed to run so much better afterwards.

We also unblocked the drain hole at the bottom of the roof motor cavity (the motor itself has been relocated) which was full of water. The mouldings around the drain hole seem to be all chewed up, or even melted (second pic). Anyone know why this might be?

Also, where the drain hole comes out in the cavity in front of the rear wheel arch, there’s a black plastic box with a blue thing in it (first pic). Anyone know what this is?

Quick question for you lot who have got the front reinforcement plates... What do you do about this screw/stud that is circled in the photo? Just unscrew it and leave it out?
If it's just the camber pin which i presume it is I just left it out, not needed. Check that's what it is though first.

I believe that's the connector for the wheel speed sensor.

Thought it is the brake wear sensor. I changed one of them out when I put new disks on the front.

Washed the tree sap and bird poo off the car and tidied up inside. Finished just as the sun was setting. Car now covered against more bird crap!!

The brake wear sensors do have a very similar connector.

Had mine serviced at BMW, always feel that I've had my pants pulled down, but it's got full history and still under extended warranty so reluctant to go elsewhere.

Finally got the Ramp for an hour and helped my Zed man fix the exhaust that had dropped on the right bank, after the original cast clamp broke. It turns out I was just the perfect height to hold it up on my shoulder whilst he was tightening a loosening the bracket to get it just spot on. :D The kit to fix it came with two replacement clamps, so I now have a spare I will probably never use.

The down side was my new battery had gone completely flat after 5 weeks and my trickle charger was not charging it. Took two cars to jump start it this morning. Happily no other issues, but my new battery may be a dud.

Put the brand new front struts (with springs) and drop links on the car today. Front left was a PITA as the old shock wouldn't come out the knuckle clamp!!! :x

Hopefully doing the rest tomorrow (LCA and Tie Rods):

Fitted a front splitter and side skirts tonight. Also turned the seals around on the headlight covers as there was a small bit of condensation starting.

The side skirt is a really nice little addition.

Interested to learn how robust it will be.
