What have you done to your car today?
Today I turned the key to ignite and nothing happened
No clicks from the starter motor...
Called the AA and the guy put a bar onto the starter motor and hit it with a plastic hammer while I turned the key.
Lots of horrible noise as the motor tried to turn but couldn't start the car.
A quick bump and a swift drive down to Barons BMW Highgate.
You know as soon as you say hello to the reception it's cost you a £100, lol.
I have AA parts and garage so they'll pick up the first £500,not that it's gonna cost that much.
I pay £35 excess, very reasonable.
The AA parts and garage has saved me a good few grand over the years with my Z and van, even when I take into account the cost of my cover.
I've heard people saying they're never able to get the AA to pay out but I've never had any bother, every claim goes straight through...
Worth considering if your Z has a few years on it.

Mine went a few weeks ago, the starter motor is actually pretty easy to replace if you fancy getting your hands greasy. New starter is about £90 from EuroCarParts and takes about an hour to do (even for a novice like me). Theres a decent guide in the how to section.DMC63 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 12, 2018 8:24 pm Today I turned the key to ignite and nothing happened

Thought it worthwhile mentioning, I know the excess is cheaper than doing it yourself but if you wanted to save a premium hike or something in future if it works like that?

Yep - That's almost the same thing as the RAC guy did to mine, only difference was... mines an auto - no bumping... my local garages are all too busy to do the job this week - there's no way I'm leaving my Zed on someones fore court for a week... The RAC guy removed the old motor for me - so I ordered the part for next-day delivery and did the re-install in my lunch break...DMC63 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 12, 2018 8:24 pm Today I turned the key to ignite and nothing happened
