Removing the under trays

As I said in another thread if anyone is thinking of doing this on your own in a garage on axle stands, have a chat with your self before you start. As once you start there is no wimping out part way.

A morning of tinkering , means I had a little more ( approx 10mm ) of clearance from fitting the thicker spacers on the struts and rear springs. Quick run round the block and nothing fell off ( that I saw !) . Now need to book a return to Nick at the Suspension Shop for a quick dial in, as was supposed to have done this after he advised replacing the lollipops .................. and I did that last July ........... Time flies ..............

Likewise. What's the bright blue stuff? Some kind of underbody treatment?
2008 Z4MC: heavy wheels | crap suspension | skittish rear end | wobbly engine | not enough induction noise | underwhelming turn in | inconsistent braking | lardy battery | chubby steering wheel
2006 Z4 2.5si: gone

It is blue zinc paint I googled a RAL number but googled the wrong number and ordered the blue rather than black, but as you can see it is Smurf blue but unless I run you over it is not seen when the car is on it’s wheels

The paint was sprayed on just to add some protection there was no rust at all, so the car has been looked after before my ownership.

This weekend I have planed
Collect rear trailing arms from powder coaters
Fit Wheel bearings
Fit rear trailing arms to the car (waiting on outer wish bone bushes)
Fit wheel hubs
Fit drive shafts
Replace front rubber donut gear box output
Re fit prop shaft with new support bearing
Re fit centre heat shield
Re fit disc dust shields (also at powder coaters)
Re fit centre section of exhaust
Re fit centre under tray

May be a bit optimistic as Friday night I race at Manchester velodrome until 10pm then drive to Cleethorpes short sleep then work on the Z then Sunday a few hours on the Z before returning to Manchester for a week at work.

One thing on the Z that is truly work of the devil is the washer/nuts that hold the alloy heat shields on.

The responsible design engineer should be sent to a camp in Poland for a month to reflect on his work.

Fair play indeed, lot of work there. Would love to do this if I could but certainly not got the tools or skill to do it all, hence Darragh will be doing it all for me next month! Would be great to save the money doing it yourself though.

Tip on the prop centre bearing and prop guibo (dount), if you haven't brought already then Febi Bilstein parts are a fraction of the cost of the BMW part and look exactly the same to me, same markings etc..

Did you replace the fuel filter as well? Straightforward?
Z4MR - Gruppe M, Bilstein PSS10, CSL's + 18" CSL reps with semi's, RTAB Limiters, Powerflex’d, PF Camber Arms, K-Sport BBK / RSL-29, GC Camber Plates, Strut Brace, Exhaust valves, custom brake cooling, complete underside refresh!

The car came with a service book fully stamped but no details of what was done so I am going through almost everything as I want to keep it
