I reckon I could now get the dash out completely in about an hour and a half tops. Only took an hour to put it all back together again. To be honest the exhaust took longer but that was due to removing the rusty studs !MrPT wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 2:18 pmWow! Great work. Now you've done it, how long do you think the dash removal alone would take, given a decent amount of DIY experience and the right tools?Sideways Steve wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 11:26 pm Busy weekend for me! Fixed a blown downpipe gasket which meant removing the rusted out old studs from the manifolds, full exhaust off etc. After that it was rip out the old damaged dashboard and replace with the new one I got.

Replaced a tatty rear high level brake light with a tidy new one. Had to stop halfway through to repair our cat who got mauled from another moggie in our lane.

Very little. Looked at it longingly, wishing the weather was better and the daylight hours longer. Started it up and let it run up to temperature. Switched off and locked the garage up again.
The car is not SORNed, but I don’t wish to take it out when the roads are wet and/or salty, so opportunities for a nice drive are few and far between this time of year.

Drove it around the local suburbs trying to make sure I can reproduce the clunking noises when I take the mechanic out in it tomorrow. Seems to be more noticeable once it's warmed up but that could just be my imagination.
I don't know where our spring has gone - nearly 3 weeks of rain or 100% overcast . Exception was last Saturday so at least it was the weekend .

Cheers, me too. I'm not letting it detract from the 'new toy' feeling too much.Smartbear wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 9:47 amHopefully it’s diagnosed & sorted soon and you can get on with enjoying the carenzed4 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 9:38 am Drove it around the local suburbs trying to make sure I can reproduce the clunking noises when I take the mechanic out in it tomorrow. Maybe it's just me, but I kind of like have a small list of things to do to keep myself (or my wallet) busy. As long as they're not major, or too expensive.
Once the car's sorted, I'll have to look at whether anyone in town can do decent paint correction, as it looks like my Zed was parked a bit close to Fukushima after the reactor crapped itself, as there seems to be something like acid rain on the paintwork. I've tried some Megs UC but I think it needs another level of cut to smooth it out.
All just cosmetic stuff and it still looks good, but I want it to look even better
(Seriously, it could have actually come from Fukushima and I'd never know. Anyone got a geiger counter I can borrow? )
