First off, one of the previous owners must have crammed the boot and having no liner protection, the skin took the brunt in a couple of places.

Really pleased with the end result which IMO looks much more up to date. :)

Does anyone know if this correct ?

https://www.powerbulbs.com/blog/2018/01 ... ht-colours
That sounds about right. I knew HIDs were either 6000k or 6500K. Also bear in mind there’s certain legalities over using aftermarket HID kits without projectors etc too.
This page talks about the HID conversions
Are aftermarket HID headlights legal in the UK? Will they pass an MOT? What about LED headlights?
Update - January 2018

https://greyhead.co.uk/other-things/are ... s-legal-uk
In January 2018, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency ("DVSA") announced that some changes were being drafted to tighten up the MOT rules on the fitment of aftermarket HID kits.

These changes are still in draft, but the essence seems to be that, if you want to upgrade a car to HID headlights, you must use a headlight unit specifically designed for the fitment of the HID bulb you're upgrading to. So, for example, if you wanted to fit a D2S-type HID lamp, you would need to use a projector or reflector specifically designed for that bulb.

The specific wording, on page 7 of the draft document (which you can read here), is:

Some vehicles may be fitted with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps. It is not permitted to convert existing halogen headlamp units for use with HID bulbs. If it is clear that such a conversion has been carried out, rather than replacing the entire unit with one designed and approved for use with HID bulbs, the headlamp should be rejected.
I was thinking of changing the sidelights to LED seeing as I have some spare, but I don't think I will bother now plus I'll stay with the halogens 4K, although I may attempt a Halo DRL mod at some point :)
I don't think side lights are an issue. In any case, I have LED side lights, halo DRL's, chase indicators and HID headlights and passed the MOT without any issues in August last month.

On the use of blue halogens (to give off a whiter light) they do look very blue when not lit, which isn't a great look ÍMO.

Thanks! :) I used to strip/rebuild Vespas and Lambrettas back in the day. Infact, I was humming and ahhing between getting a scooter or a convertible (Z4, TT, Boxster). In the end I chose life and bought a car.
You just need to watch some youtube videos about what the light board is telling you, and get some proper Tap Down/Dent pulling tools, a couple of cheap light boards and then apply gentle but firm taps. A old practice test pane from a scrappy, it doesn't have to be from a Z, might/would also be a good idea (useful for testing filling, spraying and finishing too).

Thanks for that information. I was looking at doing all this before I had my accident, now I'm consigned to life in a wheelchair I find any manual work so difficult.
Incredibly frustrating, as I was very hands on before my accident, now I have pay folk to do the work.

Finally changed the rocker cover gasket. All going well until a piece of brittle old gasket broke off and dropped under the camshaft :o an hour later and a bit of swearing and I fished it out.
Overall, an easy job, if yours is leaking have a look at the YouTube videos and have a go.

Just be careful removing the old circular gasket parts.

A package arrived from Amazon today. Magnaflow 11385 muffler. I'll get the secondary cats cut out and the magnaflow fitted, remove the existing cheap mufflers at the rear and run it without them. Hopefully this will sound much better than the existing setup (too drony).
I can always reattach the OEM muffler at the rear (I had it fitted with a flange so it can be bolted back on) but not sure if this might defeat the point of the Magnaflow (better sound).
Would love to have gone the 'DLV' backbox route, but the cost with shipping was always going to make it difficult.
I'll report back (maybe a new thread) when I can get the work done.
