Project 2006 Z4 - restoration (Enjoy!)

Thought I would check the other cup holder on the other side, just in case.
And glad I did.
For a change the cup holder was fine, but the vent was not

More plastic welding and Q bond and its fixed!!

Perhaps now I can get onto other proper repairs!!!

The leather on that door card looks seriously baggy.

I found a leather cleaner followed by along while with a hairdryer blowing hot air on the leather will tighten it up. Follow up with a good leather conditioner as the hairdryer will dry the leather out slightly

How are you refurbing the seats?

It was the steering wheel I noticed.

Yeah they aren't great.

My advice...sand down to the white plastic beneath and then spray matt black and Matt lacquer over the top.

To that with all the wheel trim and it should look great

Great thread  How did you learn to plastic weld? Must be very useful with the cost of replacement parts, especially the hard to find bits (or in some cases nigh on impossible to find).
Keep up the great work, I'm enjoying following the progress.

Found this under the drivers seat

Not the proper tool kit is it? If it is, whats missing?

Onto the softtop..

Bought this from local motor factors

Image

Masked off and scrubbed twice with the cleaner (especially on the green bits!)

Took some getting rid of the cleaner with a hose pipe, but looks gorgeous now.

Oh, thanks to Stu who sent me an ashtray! :) Now fitted and looks sexy! Well, perhaps not that sexy, but,.....you know what i mean!! Hahaha

Here you go andy, I think this is the complete kit. Towing eye, phillips/flat head screwdriver (reversible), assorted fuses, 13mm/10mm crescent, allan key for manual opening/locking of the soft top, and the wheel puzzle nut.
Not sure if the puzzle nut and allan key are part of the tool kit as such, but it seems to be where people keep them.
