which soft top half cover.

Hi guys , hopefully these two pics i have put on will show up, i am considering a half cover and wondered if anyone has any experience of any one, or both of these.
Only want to spend a maximum of £100 and thought these looked better than the flimsy silver ones, the blue one gets trapped in both doors and boot, so it cannot be stolen without ruining it, the black i'm unsure of... Thought's or other suggestions welcome ... Cheers .. Dave.

Don't like the idea of any sort of cover on my car my soft top still looks fresh after living outside since I bought the car 8 years ago I was struggling with removing algae recently but I found a pro detailer local to me who did a fantastic job of cleaning the roof only £55 for a deep clean and a coating of G.Tech its looks amazing.

Do a search and you will find out that heavy covers can mark the paint. I have used 3 types - two canvas types and one thin light grey plastic type. I don't use the canvas types anymore due to paint being badly scratched and marked. It is still marked by the lighter type but the marks are more easily sorted with a good paint polish.
I cover my Zed every day (it is parked on our front hard standing) primarily to help keep rain from swamping the roof motor.

Cheers paulgs1000,
I have a cheap half cover, got it for christmas off my daughters boyfriend , as a temporary solution .
I am a bit loath to use it though , as it has the bungee type straps to hold it in place, but same as you, i don't want my roof motor failing on me, as i don't use the car much to even help dry the roof off, maybe once every two weeks..

I had the 2nd one, custom covers. Fits well and snug. As Paul says you have to be careful that the magnetic pads don't attract metal filings etc and mark the paint.
They do give good protection from the weather however and may help save the roof motor.
I paid around 45 quid from their Ebay site.

Have had a custom cover on mine for last couple of months. Fits perfectly and only takes a couple or so minutes to fit after a bit of practice. Gives great protection. Recommend it.

I use a full cover as we have woods opposite with nesting Rooks, their bloody noisy and flying poop machines. My cover does take quite a few hits from them, so better on the cover than my paint/hood. We were passed by a 04 roadie on the M40 on Saturday and the roof had chunks of moss growing on it, it looked bloody awful

Update on my cover after using it for a while. Paintwork is scratched to hell now, especially at near side mirror area. I guess this is from the magnets. Now I have to decide whether I keep using it and remove scratches as best as possible, or just let the rain do its thing!

I use a light weight one as Paul discussed 7 posts back - it does the job and no scratch marks.

That may well be an option for me, Marlon. I'm going to give mine another go, but I have removed the magnets to see if it stops scratching. It might well fly off of course, but it sits under wipers and in boot lid so we'll see!

Hi marlon, just come across this thread while looking for car covers. Are you still using your half cover? Do you know what make it is and has it scratched the paintwork at all?
