Z4 3.0 Coupe market watch

Post by ZedsDeadbabyZedzdead » Wed Aug 04, 2021 9:04 am

Morning all
I thought I would share my recent story, I went to see a 09 plate black z4 coupe (on autotrader now) the advert said it has 55k on the clock and full service history in face the short advert says 4 times it has FSH however after I drive the 186 miles to get there the seller in fact had no service history other than some print outs of parts he had changed.
So please don’t be like me and drive 186 each way to find out it has no history

It might be worth naming at least the location if you don’t want to name the dealer (I personally would name the dealer for future searches)

Also, if I was travelling 186 miles I’d have wanted sight of all stated paperwork electronically first before making the decision to travel, just saves lots of wasted journeys like the one you’ve unfortunately just had

Another option for a car that far away is stick up a post asking if any members are local and can give it a quick once over for you, even offer a few beer tokens for their time.

G29 M40i Thundernight with Ivory interior, all option packs (here for a while, hopefully )
G29 M40i Misano Blue all option packs (Gone 26k of fun)
E89 35iS, Valencia Orange, Design Pure Traction pack (Gone)
    E89 23i sDrive, Silver (Gone)

    That's a real pain. :headbang:

Although if the seller had some parts print-outs I'm guessing it's a private sale, but I couldn't find it on AutoTrader.

Some good advice from Argyll Andy though. There's no reason S/H can't be sent electronically.

I've viewed a couple of cars for forum members who were over 150 miles from cars being sold by dealers that were just a couple of miles from me.

I hope you find the right one anyway.

A few up for grabs in NZ ATM, 2 of which are in my home town of Christchurch. I get the impression these are a lot more expensive over here than in the UK

Come on then who'd like to pass comment on this bespoke creation - only done 39,000 and although listed as an import it does appear to be a UK car that was first registered in Germany

That car was up for £17000 something on 10kclassics.

I was looking at it for a while but was the wrong time to purchase.

Keep looking at it in anger knowing I'm not paying the extra 2k so won't enquire about it haha 😆

I saw this on my regular trawl through the classifieds the other day. He's going to have trouble selling that for any more than 10 grand even in this market.

Also, what the heck is this:

A fine addition to the marketing BS lingo that. So a reset of the engine; does that just mean turning it off and back on again?

Just noticed the M-badge placed underneath the 3.0Si badge, bit of a split personality this! Must say I do like the wheels though, really suit the coupe.

Regarding prices: if you think prices are high in the UK, try buying in the Netherlands... A decent example will fetch between 20-25k euro, roughly 17-21k pounds. But then we do have an additional tax on new cars that drives prices up by about 20-25% from new, leading to higher second-hand prices as well. Z4's have gone up quite a bit recently here, but then there are only ever a handful for sale (small country) and new cars are harder to come by.
