Z4m Coupe v Z4 3.0 Coupe
I'm considering buying either of these ,what I'd like to know is how much more (£) the M is than the normal 3.0 coupe ,
2006 up to 40,000 miles is from a) trade.........b) private
2007 up to 30,000 miles is : ditto
2008 up to 20,0000 miles : ditto
I'm trying to work out for myself what is a reasonable amount to pay from a trader and private .
Is there any consensus as to how prices are moving for either model
Cheers

Why not have a look on http://www.Autotrader.co.uk
Obvioulsy there is a bigger market for the 3.0 in light of the cheaper servicing, fuel and tax costs.
Overall, I should imagine the cost differential to buy between the two is now at an all time low due to the aforesaid.
Remember, Autotrader is your friend as are any parkers/glasses/network q valuation style websites.
Do some homework and you should be able to answer those questions quite easily yourself.

Re: Z4m Coupe v Z4 3.0 Coupe
Hi, I just bought a Z4M, 2007 and paid £18k.
For me personally it was no contest, it had to be the M car. This one in particular has individual leather on the dash and seats. Looks really good.
Im confident that the M car will retain its value better than the non M cars mostly due to their exclusivity, however having said that, the tax does make them unattractive to some.
Closing thought, if its savage power and real raw sportscar experience you're looking for, go for the M. It might cost you a bit extra from the start, but potentially you could minimise your loss over time, and I guarentee you wont manage to wipe the smile off your face

price difference I think is around 1-2k more for an M with same spec. Main extra costs you will find are with servicing, tax and slightly petrol.
service and tax is about double and petrol probably about 15% to 20% more.

I didnt get much for my X5 and haggled for the 18k price tag. I think the dealer was looking for a good bit more than £18k. I got it in Birmingham as the savings compared to up here are in the region of 4 to 5 thousand pounds! Theres an identical one for sale at my local BMW dealer for a sniff short of £25k.johnlondonw3 wrote:Agent ...I see your in Aberdeen, there's a few for sale up your way ...seems a decent price was it private or from a garage ?

I drove both back to back. They are much more different than they look on paper. Worth test driving both.

Agree with the above, totally different cars in my opinion.
Thats why you will get many people on here who say "I didnt even consider the M" or "I didnt even consider the 3.0si". Its not that one is better than the other, its just that they both excel in different ways.

Re: Z4m Coupe v Z4 3.0 Coupe
Z4M vs Z4 3.0i is a personal choice. Both are great cars! Some people think there is not a lot of difference, other people say there is a world of difference between the two... Drive both! It all depends what you are looking for in a car and how much your budget is. A Z4M is more expensive to buy, run, maintain and insure... In my opinion; A Z4 3.0i coupe will do 70% what a Z4M coupe does (it even looks 70% the same). But for me personally that extra 30% is really worth the extra money. That's because I wanted a hardcore sports car that's good on road and track (with minor modifications). I never looked at buying a 3.0i. The Z4M was the only choice for me. For some reason the Z4M feels really special...
Z4 3.0i coupe; If you want a fast and comfortable sporty car with good performance, that's easy to drive in every traffic situation (and you are not that interested in trackdays).
Z4M; If you want a real hardcore sports car with an oldschool set up and top performance... A car that gives you thrills you don't get in a normal car.
If you buy a Z4 3.0i coupe and then after some time go into fitting a Z4M bumper, better brakes, other exhaust, performance upgrades, sport seats, etc... IMO then you are better of buying a Z4M from the start...

I didn't know there was any physical difference between non M and M Z4s! In what way are the bumpers different?Franzino wrote:If you buy a Z4 3.0i coupe and then after some time go into fitting a Z4M bumper, ..
Sorry, I'm not to Z4s

Also don't get confused with the vanilla 3.0i engine as fitted in the roadsters. The 3.0si engine in the coupe has more power and more torque, and was voted one of the best engines of all time. It's also not without it's flaws... but you can read elsewhere about that. I can't remember the performance figures and I'm out walking the dog at the moment(!) but performance is only marginally inferior to the Z4M on paper. In the real world on British roads, you won't really notice the performance deficit unless you are a law breaking lunatic.
However, if you're intending to track it then the limited slip diff is probably worth the difference in price on it's own!
I drove both and went for the 3.0si as I wanted a comfortable daily driver. 3 months on I have no regrets, but as has been said before it's personal choice.
Just my 2p.

The Z4M has no fog lights, but instead there are cooling ducts for the brakes. Every recent BMW M has this set-up...agentbiscuit wrote:I didn't know there was any physical difference between non M and M Z4s! Difference BMW Z4M vs Z4 3.0i: rear diff, rear prop shafts, suspension (all parts give or take), rear bumper, front bumper, wheels, tyres, brakes, bonnet, seats, steering is hydraulic not electric, ECU, front struts, front lower wishbones, engine, whole exhaust system, steering wheel, gear box…

Re: Z4m Coupe v Z4 3.0 Coupe
I've had both. You need to drive both as they are different cars and feel very different to drive. I don't think they are better or worse but are different and not just regards the speed. The M is more urgent and feels more highly strung, the 3.0 feels softer but it still a very quick car. Go for the one you like rather than the one you think you should.
Z4MC. Interlagos blue. Black nappa. ITG filter. Eibach springs. 19's M3 alloys.
