Centre Console Trim Removal?

Post by Sit » Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:04 pm

So I have a replacement trim panel for the transmission tunnel that runs from cubby box to ash tray. I watched this members very useful video but I am unsure if I need to follow this procedure just to remove the trim?

Video - https://youtu.be/Xkj6WF7SPsQ

He needed to remove the entire tunnel so lots of screws, bolts removing knee pads etc but I can’t work out if I need to do all that just to switch the surface trim - does anyone know?

Cheers

Yes, all that needs to be removed to replace the aluminium trim.

I’ve done it a few times. So important to get the sequence right, or else you’re breaking things. Installation is the reverse of disassembly.

Cool ok well at least I know, I don’t mind stripping it all out as wanted to take seats out and have a deep clean so this can tie in with that.

Wish me luck!

When you come to do the knee pad removal its worth taking a look at this video as it shows you the clips on the back and will give you the best chance of removing them without breaking the plastic lugs on the back, which is easily done! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXkWf6Pad2k Hope it goes well!

Tip to removing the knee pads. The knee pads have three "cutouts" designed to insert trim tools to pry it off. There is one on the front "point" and two on the bottom of the knee pad. See the pictures below.
