A night of two firsts...

Hi Dan. I recently 'discovered' Ludlow myself back in June and it's definitely my new favourite place. I spent a couple of nights there driving and exploring the area in my Z4...I was actually on the trail of Robert Plant/Led Zeppelin but that's another story ! :D Anyway, next time you're there I can recommend taking a picnic and a beer up to Whitcliffe Common, find yourself a fabulous memorial bench to sit on and then just soak in what has to be one of the finest views in the country. Sir John Betjeman described Ludlow as "probably the loveliest town in England" and I'm not going to argue with that

Also, on the subject of driving roof down in the dark, one Sunday evening a couple of years ago I drove some 200 miles from Berwick Upon Tweed back to Chorley, Lancashire where I live mainly along the A1 and A59. When I left B-U-T it was dusk and the roads were very quiet all the way. Almost all the traffic lights were green, the roundabouts were clear etc and it all just flowed beautifully. Roof down, heaters on...it was just sublime all the way. The stars and moon came out, a couple of sharp showers spiced things up and the miles just flew by....a night I will never forget

Ludlow was lovely, it used to be quite the mecca for top class restaurants. I day tripped over to Elan and Brecon but found loads of good roads around that area. Forgot to make a note of the best ones, but it was a day jammed packed with brilliant driving roads. Thanks for the tip Si, we will definitely be back!

All you need is a dry night fella, heated seats take care of the rest.

Firstly, hope you’re having a good break

I was speaking to someone today who has a Z4 that told us today they’d never driven at night with the roof down that night time driving is the best time to have a roadster. There’s nothing to beat it!!

Not used the z4 a great deal and rarely with the top down but when it was hot this summer, I drove to the shore lidless at night. Heavenly cool air!

Am looking at 996 Porsches but would gain little in practicality and lose a soft top.

Pondering a spin up the Antrim coast road shortly. :driving:
