OEM style phone mount for e85/e86

Post by shuey » Mon Aug 02, 2021 10:47 pm

Hey everyone.

So a quick update.

Another survey for you all. (Sorry!)

This is to get everyones thoughts on the prototype pictures I’m uploading shortly. I’m at a stage where I’m happy with the adaptor for my own use - BUT will need a few more prototypes for it to be good enough to actually have a product that I’d be happy to sell. There’s some tweaks I’ll be doing if there’s enough interested from people - so that adapter feels even more seamless and part of the dash.

The material is also likely to change (for costs purposes) but the colour will of course be black.

Unfortunately for now, if you don’t have the Satnav computer built-in, then this product would not work, as it uses the space where the sat nav folds into.

Feel free to add thoughts, on here to.

OEM style phone mount for e85/e86

Note: I’ll be working on making sure holder blends in better with the satnav front lip, if there’s enough interest from people

And before anyone asks, yes the mount is super secure… and can be removed in seconds. I’ve yet to do a the super super enthusiastic driving test, but so far it’s performed flawlessly.

Looks good, but what happens when the ignition is switched off and the screen folds back into the dashboard ? :?

This looks great! Unfortunately I don't have built in nav but nonetheless, great work!
My only concern would be if it is too far to reach from driving position?

Will fill in your form to help you anyway, maybe you come up with great solution for non-nav cars :)

Yeh I’m afraid that’s the only thing… you’d have to remove before turning car off - which I know isn’t ideal.

It lifts out in seconds… so shouldn’t be too much of a bother.and defo quicker to remove than the suction mounts.

The whole reason I decided to make this is I don’t like sticking magnetic sicker on my phone or anything on my phone… as u can see from pics… I don’t like cases either. Also not keen on blocking air vents etc so for me it’s the perfect solution.

But what’s right for me, might not be right for other peeps
