108 refurb cost and recommendations Dorset

Post by JSz4 » Thu Jun 17, 2021 10:59 pm

Thinking of having my tired 108s refurbed as they have quite a bit of paint bubbling and flaking and last MOT mentioned 2 wheels slightly distorted.

Firstly, what sort of price would this be including having them split? Just looking for them to be painted all silver, not a separate colour/polished rim. Read a few very old threads and prices seemed to really vary.

Secondly can anyone recommend somewhere in Dorset or surrounding area?

Cheers for any advice

Jeremy

Didn't fill me with confidence. After I offered to split them myself it was a "probably... perhaps" so I avoided.

I used silver wheels in Ferndown for refurbing 108's. It was a couple of years ago but good service including splitting the wheel. If i remember it was just over £100.00 a wheel. This was one at a time over a few months and all silver finish.
I had a spare front and rear and did this as and when I needed new tyres. My z has since been sold but I still have two spares in good condition of you are interested.

you'd have to be really attached to 108s to pay £100 a wheel to get them refurbed, especially when they'll just flake and corrode again in a couple of years time.

personally, i'd flog the 108s, and use the money saved by not refurbing them to get some 107s or MV3s instead...

I'd agree with that!

You'd have to really love 108s to pay £400 to get them refurbed. :o

My 2nd Coupe came with recently refurbed 108s and while I liked them I knew they wouldn't stay looking good for too long. So I sold them for less than that and fitted a set of staggered 18s off an E89, which also cost less than that with decent tyres fitted!
Coupes because stunning!
