Interior light question

Post by bigwinn » Tue Jun 15, 2021 7:38 pm

Afternoon

Just upgraded all the internal bulbs to LED's

Glad I checked- but I noticed that the central storage (where the CD changer etc is) bulb holder was out/unconnected

When I reconnected the bulb stays on- with doors closed and locked, so assume at some point in the past its drained the battery- where is the actuator/switch?

Also, am I the only Z4 with no glovebox light?? Cant see it anywhere

My glovebox light is on the "roof" of the glovebox, top left.
The switch for the central storage is at the bottom centre of the door:

Interior light question

Found the micro switch and can see the actuator- can’t see how mine needs adjusting just yet

From realoem, is the switch 10 or 18 on the diagram? I can’t decipher

Is it a sod to get to?

Don't know, sorry, but if it is of any help, I can distinctly hear the click of the switch (microswitch?) when I open & close the door.

I think it must be item 10 as 18 is the shoot bolt that should activate with the central locking. I removed mine as it didn't work & failed in the locked position.
This is it.

Interior light question

Maybe I’m just wary of breaking 18 year old brittle plastic

I can’t get the arm off- it feels very attached…!

Any tips?

Found the micro switch it seems ok but the armature isn’t getting anywhere near it? Possible that’s snapped off a bit?

So is the light working as you operate the microswitch then? If so it does seem like there's a bit missing. Anyone near you with a Zed so you can check? Would it help if you take a pic of yours & I'll happily take a similar pic of mine for comparison. I'm not going to strip mine down though . .

I’ll get a pic

Can deffo see the micro switch and it’s seated position, which to me looks ‘right’

Just not sure how long the armature which activates it on the door is supposed to be

A photo for comparison of that will tell me if mine is short
