Hi, I've bought an 86mm/16 wrench as I was told that would fit the oil filter housing cap, but it's too small.
Can anyone let me know the proper wrench size I need to remove the cap?
I used a jaw type wrench and it has left some marks on the cap, would like to use the proper wrench with the flutes to fit around the cap.
Thanks from Halifax, Canada!

If the 2.5 is the same as the 3.0, this is the socket for the oil filter housing.

The 2.5 is a 36mm Hex
Some BMW's use a 74mm 14 flute wrench
The 3.0si uses a 86 mm x 16 Flutes not an 86mm hex socket I use a strap/chain wrench which works fine
I am sure others have similar
