Bluetooth aux adapter - the perfect fit!

Post by Phippy » Sat Apr 10, 2021 12:00 am

If anyone is looking for a bluetooth aux adapter that works in tandem with the built in bluetooth phone connection then this might be of interest...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/TUNAI-Firefly- ... 150&sr=1-3

Mine arrived today and fits perfectly in the space between the cigarette lighter USB and factory AUX input, but would also work with the aftermarket ashtray AUX input. Also gets rid of the need for a sound isolator when charging a phone through the Cig lighter charger.

Sorry the picture is so bad, it was already dark when Amazon delivery arrived

I am not getting any money from this, it just pleased my OCD in such a way i felt the need to share!

Bluetooth aux adapter - the perfect fit!

Have you had time to see how it works when you receive a call. Had similar firstly in an E46 with Parrot kit for bluetooth which worked fine. Both paired up well you got in car and both work ok (including phone controls from steering wheel.
Got another different one for my 2009 E91 which had bluetooth for phone as standard. Both seemed to work Ok until I received a phone call in car - just couldn't handle it- even tho setup of streaming bluetooth was setup for streaming only- i.e not set up for phone bluetooth. Returned it back by Amazon. Still got the one from the E46 and that seems to have the same problem in my 2009 Z4. Receive a call when on standard bluetooth in car -fine. Connect up bluetooth streamer and again car tries to handle it but just gets confused and no sound on call. Still experimenting to see if will work with both connected. Both had buttons on them so could skip track back or forward.
Would be interest if yours can handle both ok as I'd be getting one.

2k35is, can confirm this works with the Bluetooth hands free on the car. I have an iPhone 6s and it can connect to up to two Bluetooth devices, so the car and the aux adapter.
The adapter has no calling features, just music streaming so there is no interference.

Run these in both my cars, did have a tunai firefly and may have been unlucky as it crapped out within days.. these things do the same job at a third of the price and have been reliable so far
if its got tits or tyres..its trouble :D

But then you have a horridly ugly cable floating around the gear stick area!
Mine is still going strong, since Friday haha, but will let you know if it breaks....

Nope, e89 aux is hidden in the centre console, whole unit cant be seen unless opened up :D Also I would be fitting any such unit completey hidden in an e85, wouldn't take much effort to wire in a usb power unit like you have in your ashtray behind the removable aux panel and having it all hidden away

Fair, didn't realise you were had an e89... My DIY skills are not as bold!
I would inevitably cause irreversible damage and just wished i'd put up with the cable.... my OCD does hate exposed cables so maybe a future project!

Dead easy buddy, literally 2 wires.. You just want something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Charge-Charger ... 8254649820
Wire it with a piggyback fuse thats from a switched live, one point to earth and tuck it away behind the aux panel, your only slight issue is your aux switch is built in so maybe find a new panel in a breakers (most dont have the built in aux) and pop out your aux unit and tuck that behind too, stick your firefly on, pop over a new panel and you have a permanent hidden bluetooth unit

That doesn't sound too bad, i just need to learn how to piggyback and find an earth point - i know its the chassis but not sure where i'd access it from behind the centre console, assume the radio has an earth somewhere i could share. I managed it in the van but it seems a lot simpler when i can just re-cut some ply if i feck it up  I very much like the idea though!

Got tunua firefly and works well for streaming and doesn't seem to interfere with operation of cars phone bluetooth. But absolutely no control over wha'ts played or any info on artists/tracks apart from on phone obviously
So bought a Bovee from ebay seller claimed it worked with android to display artists and tracks on iDrive. It doesn't but likedbeing able to use steering wheel controls to pause or skip/forward/back thro tracks but at £100 bovee was an expensive solution. Returned it and bought this as an alternative
bmwstream2 air at about half the price of the bovee(£42 inc delivery may have taxes/import duty on top). Only expecting this to work for steering wheel controls so a step up from the tunea firefly.

Coming from states so will update once I've tried it.
