Z4 2.2 replaced with Z4 3.0

Post by Nota TR5 man » Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:36 pm

Having bought my Z4 2.2 from a garage when I drove past and just saw it whilst driving my BM Trouble you (so named for its dreadful money pit antics) 318 touring. I had made up my mind to never having another BMW as calling out rescue does not please me.
I ended up loving my Z4 and after owning it for 3 years and doing a track day in it and finding it to be fun and not too slow, however I hankered after more power so started looking for a 3.0 and finally got this grey beast after looking at two 3.0 SI's one of which I agreed a price and the owner then sold it to someone else without telling me (I didn't like him anyway) this one was only 15 miles from me and my wife and I both liked it and made it ours.
The black one is up for sale now :)

I'm glad your Z4 behaved better than that 318i you had!

And you must be enjoying the entertainment another 800cc provides. :driving:

These cars just seem to get under your skin. I'm on my third now, but have never owned 3 of anything before!
Coupes because stunning!

Nice. Aero front bumper too which is relatively rare and expensive.

I drove my 2.2 today on some narrow mountain roads and thought that it was pretty fast in those conditions. I rarely went to 3rd gear. Love how this thing handles.
Looking forward to hearing your impressions on upgrade!
And I forgot, congrats and good luck! 8)

Thanks for your thoughts lads yes the extra 800 cc sure shows especially on take off.
Yes I have liked the handling and road holding in the 2.2 and have yet to play hard with the 3.0 as it sits in the drive until I have sold the 2.2.
The 2.2 has kicked back at me for wanting to sell by breaking it's drivers window winder mech :x and I wont sell a car with faults. We have a history of sports cars and motorsports in the family so I will soon have some impressions :driving:

Yes indeed, due to a covid cancelation of our Silverstone one we have one to take,
but will probably wait for spring to give me time to inspect and check the 3.0 to make sure there are no obvious weak points.
Our daughter lives in Reading and we are often there twin sitting while she works doing her Car Gurus video's.
So we look forward to meeting up in the coming year too Andy.

Z4 2.2 replaced with Z4 3.0

Well the 3.0 was driving me nuts because someone had removed the foam in the tube to make it rorty inside the car :( I am not a fan of this mod as I am older than 17 and don't believe a big voice makes a big man so in went some foam and the car is much improved. Have sold the 2.2 after repairing the window.
Fuel consumption is the same and insurance just a tad more so its all good and the Zed will stay with me for a while.
Like an art form it's simply good to look at and better to drive it :D
