New Leather Retrim for Silver Grey E86

Post by QUIKSTER » Wed Jul 22, 2020 8:49 pm

Hey Folks,

Have decided to the get my tired OE Ivory White Sport seats and door cards retrimmed on my Silver Grey E86.

Went to see EDGE Automotive in Rugby today but made the mistake of looking at many colour samples.

I like the tan's and caramel shades but keen to get ideas off others, something within this colour range and that goes well with Silver Grey and my brushed silver interior trim.

Any pics of would be very helpful.

Oh and cost wise I'm looking at £1400, I know, big investment on a car of this age, but its gonna be a keeper and got a buyer lined up for my Corrado Vr6.

The Bmw " amarone" would be my choice in a silver ZC , the tan / caramel looks better with the darker blues + blacks imo .

Amarone would be my choice too!

But if the OP isn't so keen I think the Imola Red in my M also goes well with Silver Grey.

As said, tan looks better. Against darker colours, blue especially. Champagne belongs with black or blue or red.
I’d say a bold colour to contrast with silver grey.

Silver grey and red is a timeless and classy combo but Amarone could work well too.

Did previously consider Oxblood/Amarone but as you know the coupes can get a lil dark and gloomy inside so was the reasoning for slightly lighter Tan, Caramel or biscuit shades.
Also I think you need to have the Piano black interior trim to finish the Amarone look.

Actually trying to Google some images of my preferred options

Have you seen the cinnamon leather which was an option in the E46 M3's?

Never seen a Cinnamon up close, a bit on the orange side, but your right did come as an option on some Silver Grey M3's.

Could go 2 tone with the bolsters being light grey (think they called it silver) and the mids being tan or Amarone or vice versa

I know what you mean about potentially dark and gloomy, which is why I was glad my Ruby Black and Montego Blue Coupes both had Pearl Grey leather - but that wouldn't work too well in a Silver Grey car. :(

Maybe one of the Bi-Colour options like black with red or black with blue would be an option? I think the light grey one was Silverstone, although that doesn't really add any colour.

I had mine done in Bentley Burgundy. Chuffed with them and the leather is thick and sumptuous...

I've thought of doing the same to my silver grey coupe - tan would be my choice. I think I've seen a silver grey M coupe on here with tan/caramel leather and it looked incredible... to my eyes, at least!
