Welcome to the forum Racer.

I just had a look and it seems rainsensor and Auto headlights was only standard on Facelift 3.0Sis & Ms, but I don't know about pre-facelift E85s or E89s.

Don't forget early E85s came out in the era of the E46 3 Series and neither of my E46s had them!

Anyway we'd still love to see a photo of your poorly-specced Z4!

My 2003 Z4 doesn't have them but I'm looking at buying a 2005 Z4 that does have them.

My 2004 has them, but don't know if this was standard or an option.

I think it was part of the comfort pack option, that's what mines has and includes the rain sensor and auto lights

My 2006 2.0 has rain sensor and auto lights, it was probably on the options list.

Don't write off retrofitting. Could be relatively straightforward? I know LCM's can be changed, see here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=122365

Wifey's 53-plate 2.5i has auto lights and rain sensing wipers.
Used it for the first time in the rain yesterday and noticed two things. The wipers always do a double sweep, is this normal?
Also, the sensitivity adjustment on the stalk seems to make no difference................ but maybe it was raining too hard to affect that?

Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

I thought it was only for intermittent wipe frequency...didn't realise it also did sensitivity...will have to somehow try that (assuming a 2006 Z4M has the same functionality as a 2003 non-M)

Mine only does a double sweep if the first sweep didn't clear the screen/sensor enough.

Well I may be confusing myself with that tbh. My 335d uses that to adjust sensitivity, but maybe the Z doesn't. But then I wonder, why would you need intermittent wipe if you have rain sensing. So maybe I was wrong all along. It's been a long week. :scratchhead:

No, what you said is correct, that's what the manual says - but I had to check

It might be really obvious but try cleaning the sensor area on the windscreen. If it has a film of dirt over it or flies graveyard it will make a difference. :)
