Progress update from today. A road trip first thing to pick up this lot from a forum member and a lot of fighting with stuck hoses and the radiators are out. I'm pulling the slam panel out tomorrow and then hopefully fitting the new rads and pipes.

Ha, i blame the forum software, they are the right way up when viewed on my mac and on a mobile!

The pile of damaged stuff would be smaller than the pile of replacement parts. most of it is still in the field that the car crashed in!

Hi All,

It's been a while since my last update and i've been having fun!

The lower wishbone was a bugger to get off and an even bigger bugger to refit. I had a lot of fun trying to get the bush on far even but i improvised and won!. So current status is:
  • Slam Panel and Rads refitted - i'm waiting for a new lower hose from BMW (arriving tomorrow)
  • New Tyres fitted
  • Front Suspension fixed
  • New Under tray fitted
  • Wheel Arch Liner in the post
  • right lower side splash cover in the post £180 :o
  • Engine splash cover in the post
  • Front Bumper (yes the expensive one) - not in the best condition but it done with a salvageable left splash and external temp sensor!
  • Bonnet latch - fixed
Still do do:
  • Refit bumper properly - i'm going to try and get away without using brackets left and right but i might have to get them still!
  • Finish Rad hose, fill with coolant and see if it was worth it i.e. no leaks
  • Fit the front end parts when they arrive
  • Lift the back end to tackle replacing the rear trailing arm and find god knows what else is wrong!
  • Replace the rear bash plates
  • Lower the headlights and get a restoration kit
Some pics from today

This weekends update
  • Coolant Flushed and replaced - i did the full job including the engine block - there aren't enough expletives to describe how hard it was get to the bolt on the block. First flush 2 hours, second time for the coolant 30 mins!
  • Rear trailing arm replaced - i had a mate do this and it was the last major piece so i'm very happy this is done!

Another weekend and another massive step forwards and one hopefully small one backwards!
  • bumper fitted
  • wheel arch liners fitted
  • under-trays (left, right and centre) fitted
  • metal bash plate fitted at the front
  • Removed and replaced the transmission bash plate - that was a right pig as it was bent over on it'self - this took 3 hours alone and i took a crowbar to the nose! q
  • check the drain holes for the roof (all fine)
  • Wheels back on
  • Dropped the car down
  • Topped up the coolant
  • Warmed her up and i have a small coolant leak low down on the front passenger side :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
So, apart from the leak she's ready to go for the MOT, oh and the my application for the V5 came back, they want £25 because the car isnrt registered cat c or s which is a bonus i guess!

Result - I'm sure anyone with a car that had a Cat C or Cat S marker would be happy to pay £25 for a V5 with no marker on it!
