Ellipsoid 107 OEM paint code confirmation

Post by MKZ4000 » Fri May 17, 2019 11:31 pm

Im getting my 107's refurbed next week and ideally would like the oem paint

I'm finding mixed results in that it could be

Felgensilber 144

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showt ... ?t=1157653

Or Titan Silver 354.

Can anyone confirm please?

I always thought it was Titan Silver... guess maybe it could be both? Depending on wheel style and year?

I personally feel the oem silver is a bit flat on 107's. Something like sparkle silver will make them look much better. I feel these wheels need some metallic flake, otherwise the spokes don't look like they have much definition.

I think your right. They do tend to look a bit flat. I feel a poll coming on "best silver colour for a standardish refurb on ellipsoid style 107s"

I also would say sparkle silver would be a lot better on them.

:D I agree they do look a bit flat/Matt but I like that.

Further research is not helping as I’ve also seen many people state the colour as reflex silver.

Actually I wonder how that would look.
I have a set of 107's that need a refurb and I'm seriously considering this.

Tempted by that for mine, it does look good against the grey I'm just not sure how it would look against titanium silver

I've seen shadow chrome 107's on titanium silver Z4 and I thought the wheels looked a little too dark against the bright silver bodywork.

You can get different shades of shadow chrome though. I asked the refurbisher to make sure the wheels didn't look too dark and I think they gave them an extra coat of silver over the black basecoat.
