Reverse gear is not push down - push left hard and it will clunk ove, then push the lever forward into reverse. :)

Go to realoem.com - enter the last 7 digits of your vin (on the chssis front strut tower under the bonnet) and browse the part numbers - it'll be in there somewhere for the clips etc you need :)

Satnav is annoyingly the thing that dates these cars the most in my opinion - I wish I didn't have it in mine! I'm not sure if there are updates or not - be interested for my own car

Coding of all sorts of things can be done through an app called carly and an obd2 plug - it's a £50 annual subscription though. Alternatively there's a thread on here titled 'who has Carly and where' - you'll almost certainly find someone local to you who will be prepared to do it for a) cheaper than a dealer or b) free if you ply them with biccies and tea

Got it now, thanks! It was only difficult when I thought I was meant to be pushing it down!

I agree - was actually looking for a car without it for that reason - but it was so hard to find a good car that we liked, we had to put up with this aspect. I've just bought a 2019 "High" Navigation DVD from Ebay - a genuine one - and will see if that brings the map up to date at least.

Will need to explore that, thanks!

No bother chap - I was the same, secretly very pleased when I found my first coupe (si) with no nav, and a bit annoyed my M has the nav! Heyho!

Out of interest whats the difference between the 'professional' and 'high' nav dvd?

Crazy Harry wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2019 1:38 pm Well done  - love it when someone comes on here looking then reports a buy. Roadster man myself but pleased you've found your Zed - post us some pics of the interior sounds good ...... and of course what options its got.
Found a specification list in the paperwork
- Stratus Grey - Indiv. Amarone Nappa Leather
- Star Spoke 108
- Piano Black BMW Ind.
- Seat Heating Front
- Xenon Headlights
- Cruise Control
- Nav System Professional.
- BMW Assist
- Voice Control
- Enhanced Bluetooth telephone Functional.
- Comfort Package

Price as new appears to have been £37280, at the end of 2007.

Previous owner has, within the past 1000 miles, replaced front lower control arm bushes, and the Hydro Unit was sent away for refurbishment and refitting, which cost over £1000 on its own... also inner and outer track rod ends, and a full 4 wheel alignment... - it says "car will require inner outer track assemblies for near side and off side steering unit - once fitted camber bolts at the back can be adjusted to set point for 4 wheel alignment.

Wow, that's a pretty good spec.

And it sounds like it has been looked after too.

You might want to edit your signature though - it's an E86, not a 90s 3 Series.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about them, I've seen their place. Thanks for that.

Photos attached. I know the "Amarone" interior is rare, we loved it when we saw it.

The mats are the originals with the edging to match the seats... I presume these are unavailable to get now???

Ooh, that interior looks lovely.

You might still be able to get the mats - a few years ago I got an OEM set of mats from BMW for Mrs Tidy's 56 plate Mini (although they were just the standard Charcoal ones).

Oooah nice and little bit of work on the leather and that's going to be a show stopping interior. Got all the nice extras as well (except the soft top but that's a different thread!).

Happy you found a good example of what you were looking for - now be prepared to spend hours and ££ on it; only to avoided by leaving the forum now. Most importantly go and get some miles on it  :driving: :driving: :driving:

Wow, that’s a nice spec’ed car! Great interior. I’ve never seen that color before.
Also, I like the ZHP shifter. I thinking of getting one of those.

It's a huge improvement over what BMW fitted.
