Ok so my Z4 2.0i is Ruby Black, and I think black grills would look good, but now I am not sure which would look best.....Gloss or Matt?

Strangely enough I searched for this earlier - mixed opinions.

From what Iโ€™ve seen, I prefer gloss.

Put this on my eBay watchlist earlier...item number 372464743859 from Germany.

Definitely gloss black  I had matte black grilles before the gloss ones and they look like they've faded  Gloss ones look much better.

Just took a photo for you

Depends on the colour of the car. So in your case I would go GLOSS

My Stirling grey e85 i sprayed them SATIN BLACK and was very pleased with the results.
My Silver e89 left the original grills as they looked the best.
My current e89 is Black and have gone for GLOSS BLACK which looks great

I'd definitely prefer gloss on a Ruby Black car.

I've actually got gloss black on my Montego Blue Coupe, but with a chrome surround - they look so much better than the original miserable grey ones! :D
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily

Does the original chrome trim split from the standard grill, to then fit around the gloss black grill?

I don't know to be fair as I bought them like that from someone on here! They look like you could, but having plastic clips I'm not sure I'd want to try doing it!

Ah ok. Thanks. Iโ€™ve seen a few pics on here with that set up so got me wondering.

Thanks but I don't think carbon fibre is for me. The black grill with a chrome surround looks good on lots of cars, but I think all black is the way I want to go.
Looks like Gloss is the more popular and would suit the car best from opinions so far, which is really useful to know.
Thanks.
