e85/86 Specific Android Screen
i have fitted the AvinUSA 10.25" E83 version to replace the factory flip up screen & nav system and is great but does have some issues.
Cons:
1. these head units use canbus, the E85/86 uses K-bus. i had to buy an I-bus interface USB to get some features to work.
2. steering wheel buttons don't work except for the volume.
3. screen angle gets a lot of glare with roof down.
4. if you have DSP then you loose most of it unless you buy the I-Bus interface and pay for the correct licence.
Pros:
1. choices of sat nav's live or offline
2. carplay or android auto but you need to buy the adapter for this.
3. add torque app with correct OBD adapter to get custom dials on screen
4. could install carly with correct OBD adapter
5. SD car for music
6. bluetooth phone reception is far better than BMW old system

Hi Sir
I would love to know more about the installation of Joying. Can you guide me in the right direction? I have an e86 without sat-nav from factory.
Beat regards

Hi, I'm from the Netherlands and experiencing the disadvantages you wrote. Could you tell me some more about the I bus interface? Which one did you buy and what problems does it solve?
Did you do any coding on your e85?

I bought the I bus interface which plugs into one of the USB’s on the screen loom. You have to wire in 3 wires, power, earth and coloured wire into K-bus cable back of factory stereo. I had to by the licence for DSP to work. You can code the car and use steering wheel controls to work the music via the I-bus app.

To clarify from this thread:
1. If you have the factory flip up sat nav, you need to change the headunit to the non-sat nav non-DSP OEM 'business' one ( so its canbus ).
2. Then remove old flip up screen and make new cuts so the new smart screen can be fitted. Has anyone done this yet? Just wondering if the scar from removing the OEM nav screen is covered by the base plate from the new Android one? Then just connect up the loom cables supplied and it detects all the canbus info? ( as screen grab on page 2 )

After more reading.....Quick update: Ive just found this:
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/40000498 ... web201603_
Which if you read the listing says its SPECIFICALLY for the original sat-nav version.
So there are now TWO versions of this OS9 Android headunit since the original post:
1. Non satnav and OEM satnav?

1.- Any pros and cons with the screen and the Android system ??
2.- I see I will need to have always connected the Screen to the Aux output of the car ???, because is where the souns is transmited, right ? if yes where do u pass the aux cable to dont see it in the front of all my dash hehe.
3.- How is the sound quality ?
4.- Could you upgrade it to Android 10 ?
5.- The camera u installed do I need to wire it all the way to the front ?, if yes, is difficult? any wireless camera I could use ?
6.- Finally hehe the screen/system is plug and play or I will need to modify something in the car ? of course the big cut but only that ?

Hi all,
Sorry for resurrecting a old thread, but what happened? Did anyone get this fitted into a E85 OK?
If you have a CD-changer and Nav drive already can you remove them? I really would like more cabin storage.

Currently overhauling the interior in my Z4M and have decided to rip out the OEM Sat Nav and screen (available if anyone wants to make me an offer - fully working), and go with an updated modular Pioneer system. Will upload pictures when it's all done, but will be a few weeks yet.

A bit later than promised, but a very quick sneak peek of the new dash and navigation setup, using a Pioneer modular system. Lots of features, including the usual Android Auto and CarPlay connectivity, DAB, reverse camera hookup, Alexa integration and all sorts. Will post more pictures in their own thread once the interior is finalised as still a couple of last things to do before it's finished.

What did you do to cover the hole that was left behind? Just install an entirely new dashboard?

Would that be part number 3402391?
It looks about right but I'm wondering if it will fit properly. Can't find anyone on the internet that tried it before and it will be a bit tricky to get since I only see it for sale outside my own country.
