Am I the only one on here that actually quite likes the pre facelift tail lights? I’ve a facelift rear bumper coming soon, and I don’t think I want to change the lights. I’ll just fill the gap before painting. What do we think?

I like them too. I'm all for upgrades to a car, but I find some older, original features quite endearing. I even like the look of my yellow, candlesque halogen headlights because they sort of suit the period! Awful for night driving, of course, but quaint in daylight

Another fan of the pre-facelift rear lights here. Yes, I have them, but I actually prefer the look to the later equivalents. To me they just seem to fit better with the overall styling of the car.

I'm gonna be a noob here and ask: what's the difference between them?

I can see why you'd want to change them...

The old ones look great when they don't have ghastly orange bits in them

So, how do we get rid of the orange bits?

Agree the pre facelift Z4 is the daddy not just the French fry tail lights but the bumpers have a softer look to them when buying my Z back in 2008 it had to be pre facelift in silver on 108s and no satnav to spoil the clean looking dash and understated interior.

I like the older front bumper, because the foglights look more period/retro and don't mist up and corrode.
I like the facelift because it's sharper and cleaner.
But I like the original because it's not so sharp.
I like the original rear bumper because of that curved line and because it doesn't have that double ripple under the the number plate.
But the facelift tail lights win, because they're a symmetrical pair.
But then, get rid of the red foglight lens...

Basically, choosing between them is hard for me - you should see me choosing from a Chinese takeaway menu

Never really looked at the difference between original and facelift rear bumper as above. I actually prefer the original design.
Rear lights both look good, I have pre face lift lights but have no french fries. Looks much better I think.
