Sports suspension
Evening all.
Looking at replacing shocks on my Z4 roadstar. Not sure if I have the sports suspension upgrade. Anyway of checking?
Car is a 3.0(2004) SE Auto(smg).
Also, any recommendations for what to go for.
Many thanks.
Sharpy.

Yep ring up your local stealer and ask for the cars spec sheet, if they are local go down and they will print it out for you

Put your VIN into a VIN Decoder website to check.Sharpy1975 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 12:20 am Evening all.

A popular choice are Bilstein B4. I fitted B4s all round a year ago as did quite a few other members around the same time. The B4s are OEM replacement but are a gas-pressurised damper, not just oil filled like some other brands. The B4s contain pressurized nitrogen gas in them as well as the hydraulic oil. If the damper reacts very rapidly or repeatedly to an up and down motion the hydraulic oil can start to foam. This foam causes the damper to lose some of its effectiveness and therefore control. The pressurised gas helps to keep the oil under pressure so it is less likely to foam.
My '03 car was on its original and completely worn out Sachs dampers. The transformation on the B4s is just brilliant. Superb control with much improved roadholding and comfort.

Cheers guys.
So, I have the M sport suspension and just seen one rear spring is snapped.......I'm guessing I can't just replace with a OEM part?

Probably not, I think eurocarparts only sell the normal se springs. Contact Suplex for the correct sport spring replacements. Someone on here will have a part number for you if neededSharpy1975 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 12:13 pm Do i need to change both? would these be a straight swap - https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/BMW_ ... 4ab&000073

hi...depending on your budget...I think with broken spring and change of shocks it would be cheaper in long run to get a kit.... I got bilstein b12 kit for £606 direct from Germany....ebach springs..bilstein shocks. MIne has M sport suspension and this kit is so much better.Sharpy1975 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 12:02 pm Cheers guys.

Changed over for Surplex springs. £85 for the pair. I don't drive the car enough to justify spending £600 on a new set up. Quite like the M set up too.
Cheers though.

Have you got a photo of how your car sits now on the Suplex rear springs? Would be interesting to see if the Suplex sport springs sit the same as BMW Sport spring equipped Z4's.Sharpy1975 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 7:02 pm Changed over for Surplex springs. £85 for the pair.
