Carly subscription

Post by philbo909 » Sun Feb 17, 2019 9:58 am

So yesterday I was going to change the coding so the doors didn't lock on driving away, but carly was asking for a subscription fee.
When did this come into place?? I haven't used it for two years, but you'd assume that when you buy something you can use it whenever!
Not happy, can anyone enlighten me on what's happened?

I have ios carly installed on an old ipad 3 which i cant update to latest ios or carly version, which is actually a plus because i can still use carly in its current state for life after i paid the initial one time app fee.
If i want to run carly on android with the latest version i would have to sign up for their new yearly sunscriptio scheme.
Teevin bastids.
I think they realised the existing user market (subscription base) is obviously more finite than the amount of potential new subscribers hence make the existing subscribers sustain the business revenue continuation.
Easiest way to lose brand loyalty imo.

Yeh definitely, just like photobucket. The cable is now useless, no way I'm paying £50 a year!

Previous purchasers got the lifetime sub for free if you registered for it before a certain date. Might be worth firing over an email and seeing if you can get something sorted?

To be fair to Carly, existing lifetime subscriptions from prior to the annual subscription model were honoured. The transition was seamless in my case and I find their customer service to be helpful. Get in touch with them and they’ll sort it for you I’m sure.

I haven’t got around to using mine yet but I’m just wondering even though you can back the systems up. Is there any potential to f**k any modules up? And is it better to do changes one by one rather than all at once?

I got the subscription just in time for the upgrade and was able to take advantage of the free lifetime upgrade to the current version

That said I’ve been disappointed by the Carly support when I emailed them about whether or not the app would support mygirlfriend’s mini

I received a one line response with no explanation or advice where to look for a solution

Since then I’ve got INPA and other bmw tools working, so I’ve not bothered using it even for the Z4

Get a proper set of bmw tools and ditch Carly if it’s not a simple process to get it working again
