£40 per hour. BMW specialist, but does all our cars. Good on parts pricing too, tends to be less than I can buy for, offen fitted.

I use different garages for different things and supply any parts / servicing parts myself to keep the costs down. Always give them the chance to better the prices though.

Suspension, alignment and tyres in one garage. £65 per hour.
Servicing in another. £25 per hour.
Interior cleaning at one of the local detailers usually around £30 - 40 for the cleaning.

It's a engineer/mechanic who I've become friends with after about a decade of him being close to work in London.

He moved to Devon/Cornwall border so I thought I'd have to stop using him, but he's converted one of the outbuildings to a holiday rental, so I'm free to use it when I take the car down there.

I try to make it worth his while by getting a few smaller things done along with something major. For example, he'll do my pre-Ring inspection/alignment/brake pads/service/etc. and will also do an Insp.II every year (for not much more than the Insp.I, so might as well do the big one) and a suspension service at the same time.

He's got a few e34 M5s and a R33 GT-R - and has rebuilt all of them. He's also an ex- Aston and Cosworth calibration engineer and road tester...and has a few more Ring laps than me...so acts as personal Ring instructor.

By the hour!!!! WTF

I normally ask how much for the job(s) & agree the price for that in their appointment book.

If they were to find something, make a decision over cost at the time if something u can do yourself or if the price with the car on the ramp can be sorted for a good price
