Shocking Recommendation! You wont believe what i pick!

My poor old Zed has just passed 101k and as near as I can tell is still on its original shocks. I think the crash bang wallop quality of the ride gives it away. So, since I like to do as much wrenching and servicing as I can myself I'm going to purchase the bits and get on with it. Hopefully I'll be down to see the father in law over in Wales in a few weeks and as he enjoys messing about in the garage we might just make a day of it. Then a nice drive home through Snowdonia.

So, what to buy? This is where the forum comes in ... there are a whole load of bits involved in a shock change, some needed and some reusable ....

Shocks - seems obvious but bilstein b4's are the way to go - found them on ebay of about £320 delivered from germany. Is there a better price in the UK?

Other bits - well who bloody knows, bump stops, top mounts, reinforcement plates, dust covers, spring clamps etc etc. Honestly i dont know where to start. What can be used, or should everything be thrown. The springs .. is it time to consign them to the bin ?
Educate me in English please forum people !

So far the list is ( will be updating hopefully as i go along )
Springs

Clamps

As per your list I fitted new everything when I replaced my original shocks last year. I did re-use my springs however as they were in good condition, the rears having been replaced just before I bought the car.
I bought B4s from the same German supplier in your link....still the best price I think. I have the same spring compressors as in your other link and just about managed with them. You must fit the correct new bottom bolts on the rear shocks (tighten with suspension under load) and also the bolts on the front 'knuckles' which should both be torqued to 100Nm iirc. Have you got a decent large size torque wrench ? I have a compressor, air line and buzz gun which also makes life a lot easier, especially the top nut on the front shocks.

I got mine from Balance motorsport, the cheapest I could find (cheaper than ebay ) and a bonefide uk based bilstein seller. I paid just under £300 but that was best part of 18 months ago now so may well no longer be true.
