Jono's Z4 Coupe
Hello all, new member here!
Picked up my first Z4 Coupe from Glasgow last week, after looking at a few closer to home I decided this one was worth the flight up. Picture from my trip through the Pennines on my way back down to Cambridge - I'll definitely be going back in the Summer!
92,000 miles and only 1 previous owner. Ticked all the boxes for me, and one bonus was that it had a 5 year Gtechniq ceramic coating.
I'll be using the car as my daily driver, as it really would be a shame to keep it locked away in a garage. However I have plans to use it for the odd track day, quite a few Nurburgring laps and some trips to the Alps.
This is my previous car, a 250bhp track prep'd Clubman with JCW bodykit:
I ran this as my daily for two years and enjoyed every minute, but I also missed my E46 330Ci from before the MINI - hence looking for another BMW, this time a little more driver focused. I can't get over how much of an improvement the N52 is over the M54!
After it's first wash on the weekend I couldn't help but remove the awkward Z4 badge from the rear, and cut down the standard aerial. Then grabbed a quick picture with my mates 130i LE (also N52) - he only picked this up 3 weeks ago for a similar use to myself. Our first trip is planned early July, heading to Switzerland via Reims, then back up north for 4 days at the Nurburgring before heading home, along with 4 other cars: B7 RS4 Saloon, 350Z HR, Porsche 996 C2S and an M235i.
Couldn't help but go for a drive down towards Essex with a few others on the Sunday.
I've already ordered some ST XTA's and will be fitting these along with fresh Meyle HD wishbones and a collection of Powerflex bushes - as the 12 year old suspension felt a little lacklustre, especially compared to the MINI.
I'll try to keep this updated when I can, sorry if it's a little picture heavy for my first post!

Outstanding first post! Car looks great.

My mates old car Just had the wheels refurbed, brakes done and paint correction with ceramic coating.
Check the back tyres as they might not be run flat's, he purchased them by mistake. He liked everything as per factory.
Enjoy.

PS I bought my car from Neil as well. Small world

I saw this one for sale on Autotrader just before Xmas. It was at a dealer. Chap called Neil I think. The car looked cracking. I almost booked a flight to Glasgow to check it out. In the end i bought one a little more local. I noticed that Neil dropped the price a bit in the New Year, and i thought to myself someones going to get a lovely car. Glad to hear it went to a good home. Enjoy it.

Great to know someone from the forum knows the car. He certainly loved it, although if he liked everything as per factory then it's probably best not to show him this thread by the end of the year
As for the run flats, I wish he'd made the same mistake with the fronts. I have a hatred for run flats, but it hurts to replace front tyres with 6mm tread on...
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome, this place seems to have quite a few knowledgeable members that I'm sure will have answers to my future questions when I start tinkering a little more.

Brilliant first post - nobody is going to complain about photos on this forum!
Anyway welcome to the exclusive Coupe club.
The N52 is definitely very different to the M54! I think it is better suited to a 2 seater.

Did the French alps via Reims myself last year and then went over to the Vecours. Cracking driving roads and in the coupe turned so many heads. Enjoy!

Had time to give the Z a quick wash on Sunday, plus the Clubman was washed and collected by it's new owner.
My friend (Joe) with the 130i decided to replace his M Performance gear knob as the alcantara was grimy. So I thought I'd give it a good clean/scrub using the same methods I used on my Clubman steering wheel every 2/3 months, and fit it to the Z.
I like it! The weight feels like an improvement over stock, and the alcantara came up fairly clean - although maybe a little bobbly. I'll get Joe to send me a before photo, so you can see how bad it was. My original plan was to fit a ZHP knob, as I loved it on the 330Ci and it seemed pretty common on here, but for no cost I'll stick with this for now.
I'm planning to clean up the leather on the steering wheel next weekend. But I'm considering booking in at Royal Steering Wheels for an alcantara retrim, as I loved the job they did on the MINI, so may not bother cleaning the leather so well.
My coilovers (ST XTA) are due to be delivered on 8th Feb, so I'm looking forward to getting those fitted along with some fresh bushes and wishbones/balljoints. Next after that will probably be a full set of Michelin PS4's
