Loving this thread so far, great car by the looks of it. I just bought an E86 in the last two weeks and loving it so far, will have to start a thread with some pics as well.

In other news, it's new number plate day as the V5 has now come through with my reg on. Plus a large box of Meyle HD parts has arrived, and I'll be picking up my coilovers from the depot after work. Exciting!
Not sure if I'll have chance to fit anything this weekend due to prepping the better half's Twingo RS Gordini for it's first track day on 24th Feb at Snett 300.

Today's deliveries!
I spent a week at the KW factory in 2017 on a suspension and vehicle dynamics course, so it feels nice that I know and have seen the process the dampers have been through before being sent out to customers. As always with KW/ST the quality is outstanding, looking forward to see how they perform!
I'm not going to bother with polybushing the lollipop just yet, as a fresh Meyle HD item will be a huge improvement over the current parts. I'll keep the lollipops that come off the car for fitting of polybushes/spherical bearings in the future depending on how serious the track action gets.
Booked in for alignment and corner weighting with RJ Developments in Peterborough on 2nd March. The guys built the race engine for my R53 MINI Challenge car last year and know what they're doing, they ran a multiple race winning E36 M3 last year and have two very capable E46 M3 track cars between them

Great write up Jono, I enquired about this car the day it sold. Love the look of the Meyle HD parts, could you do a side by side comparison of them and OEM, and is there a weight saving between them?
Good luck with the rest of the build

A few people have said they enquired, sounds like I'm glad I put a deposit on it before flying up! I think I'd be lost without it now
I can do a side by side for sure, although don't have any scales at home to weigh them, sorry!

I found ebay was the best priced, this came as a kit with arms, lollipops (already installed on the arms) and new droplinks with all the required nuts. I probably didn't look around as much as I could have, as I had money in my paypal account from selling bits from the MINI - so always intended to use that.tee.gilding wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 12:34 pm Best place to get those Meyle HD control arms? Got the coilovers, and fresh front suspension components fitted up today! Was pretty surprised to find nothing was ceized, so it was all pretty easy - although fairly time consuming with limited access to the inner balljoints.
Went for a short drive to check everything over, and they feel great. All set to the KW/ST recommended clicks currently. I've solved my knocking noise on the front that was caused by the original top mounts, plus the steering feels more direct - can't be sure whether that's down to the coilovers or the fresh lollipops though.
Planning to wash it in the morning, then head over to Caffeine & Machine for early afternoon - so I'm sure I'll get plenty of pics sat at its new height!

I’m interested what set up you end up going with on the dampening. I have the ST XTAs fitted.

What are the advantages of changing these? Mine have never been done, but I did replace the lollipop bushes with superpro polybushes.JDavis21 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 12:56 pmI found ebay was the best priced, this came as a kit with arms, lollipops (already installed on the arms) and new droplinks with all the required nuts. I had a pretty significant knocking from my front right, which was play in the inner balljoint. So these have fixed that.
As I'll be using the car on track, I'd rather make sure the suspension components are all fresh and up to the job.

But ahh man why did you go for the STs over the KWs?!
Although the ST is made by KW, they are galvanised steel and so are prone to rusting. The KWs are inox (stainless steel) and so although they cost a couple hundred of quid more, they are fully worth it when living in the Northern Hemisphere. Not to mention they come with lifetime warranty also.
Heres’s a pic of just 12 month old STs.
