E86 / new Toyota supra

Does anyone else notice the similarities between the new Supra and the e86 coupe. I know they are made in collaboration with bmw and the Z4 is soft top only and this is only hard top. Long bonnet. Similar window line. Double bubble roof. It could almost be it’s younger brother.

Hello Mr Alan,

I can see some similarities but I think there are also similarities with the old Toyota GT 2000 perhaps.

Hatchbacks are always popular and can usually take a roof rack. Ideal for the local handyman with a set of ladders.

The new roadster probably not so much as it's like a really ugly thing that fell out the ugly tree and was then beaten to within an inch of it's life with the ugly stick and given a blood transfusion of ugly blood.

There's also threads in the G29 part of the forum probably mentioning the half BMW / half Toyota offspring if that sort of thing revs your engine!

Yes the rear window too and the door line and just below the doors remind me of the e86 not to mention what people have already said. Not a bad thing on my eyes either.

No, any similarity to an E86 has to be a good thing - in my biased opinion!

The side view with those haunches over the rear wheels remind me of the E86. I saw Shmee's video on the new Supra and its grown a little on me, but i must admit i was not a fan at first sight.
Funnily, I was not that keen on the E86 when it was first released, but its grown (a lot) on me since.
