Yes, what wheels are you using?

225/40 x 18 front and 255/35 x 18 rears are the OEM tyre sizes on staggered 18" rims. Is your car lowered, or using spacers?

Obviously depends on the wheels/spacers you have, but if it's an oem set up you could change up to the sizes as you specify in the title.
Word of caution though, check your actual speed compared to speedo first.

I know some people recommend them for the non-M

I have just fitted (as in 20 minutes ago), 225/45-18 on the front and 255/40-18 to the rear. I've got standard Sport suspension and 5mm spacers at the front and 12mm at the rear. The off-sets are standard (ET 47 at the front and ET50 at the rear). So far there's no rubbing issues and all clears fine on full lock. I won't know if a bumpy road will cause rubbing problems, but I doubt it. Hopefully this helps answer the OP question.

Anyone with stock rims ( so 8.5j rears) considering upping the rear rubber to 255 40 should consider 245 40 as the best option , the 255 40 18 on Z4M style 224s are fitted to 9j rims .

Thats exactly my question. No spacers, no nothing. But I ordered standard sizes today anyway. Goodyear eagle F1 assymetric 3.

225/40 or 45 255/35 or 40?

Post by RKM » Fri Jan 18, 2019 3:07 pm

On this subject I have a question. I have a 2005 3.0i with M sport suspension. 18" wheels with 255 rear tires (tyres) and 225 fronts. Are the front/rear wheels the same width/offset or different for each axle?
Thanks

Assuming your wheels are oem 18s originally made for your car then the rears are 8.5j (et50) & your fronts are 8j (et47)
