Who knew?

Post by road warrior » Sat Dec 15, 2018 10:09 am

Now I know I should not have been surprised, but, it's a new car to me, albeit old, it's been freezing all night, the car is covered in ice, it's 7 am. And.. The car started immediately, no missing, no lumpy tickover, Just a strong even sound.. It was joyous.
It made an old man very happy.. It was so cold I didn't feel the glorious heated seats for 10 mins. I love this car... :D
This is my first winter with a zed. I am impressed.
If you ever think I'm off my rocker.. Just put me back in it and walk away... It's the kindest thing
My wife says I never listen - or something like that.

People on the forum recommend treating the seals with Gummi Pflege.
I've tried it but without a lot of success if I'm honest - maybe I didn't do it regularily enough
What I found works for me is a very very light wipe with washing-up liquid along the window edge where it touches the door seal
It leaves a bit of a smear on the window but is easily cleaned once the cold snap has passed

The thing that usually causes mine not to open normally is ice on the bottom of the window so the window doesnt go down on opening the door.

Starting up has always been fine even when left for over a week, but the crank sometimes sounds weaker
