They add 6 inches to your circumference! You need to be looking for 45 profile tyres to retain the same circumference. Note if your coupé is a 3.0si then 17 inch wheels are the minimum size to clear your calipers. All this is on the assumption that your existing tyres are 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 as mine are or equivalent dimensions.

Yes, that link from "kis" is very useful, but you really need to find out the offset of the rims so you can put the "ET" into that site.

BMW call it "IS" and it's stamped onto the wheels - often on the rear. If you have photos you might be able to read it if you can zoom in, or just ask the seller to tell you what it is. Or ask what they came off, then this site might help you find the offset details:- www.alloywheelsdirect.net/bmw_alloy_wheels

FWIW the standard 18" staggered wheels on a Z4 have an ET of 47 on the front and 50 on the rear - you don't really want a higher number offset than that or they'll disappear into the wheel-arches!

But with 60 profile tyres your speedo is likely to under-read, so you'll need to be careful around speed cameras!
Coupes because stunning!

Thanks for info. I’m now looking out for more appropriate sized wheels and tyres. Although with all the snow last year, only got stuck once.

Try sticking to the known ones. Lots of e46 alloy wheels work with the Z4, alternatively get z4 wheels which have already got winters... they do come up in the buy and sell section relatively frequently. Also if they're in buy and sell you'll know they work on the z4 because they'll probably have come off a members car!

Probably the best option - I sold a set of 16" E46 wheels with winter tyres on here about a month ago.
