Went for the NCT today (Irish MOT) failed on the bonnet catch of all things. There’s a bit of a knack to getting it to close and the tester wasn’t in the mood to discover it
The mechanism moves freely and all that so I think that is ok. Does anyone know, could it be the front section cable causing the problem or is the lock just knackered and needs replacing? I assume there is no adjustment thingy anywhere?
I’ve googled all I can; most seem to struggle to open not close so any advice would be great thanks

lubrication is your friend! As long as the catch ( in the slam panel ) returns back and the 'hook' on the lid itself is free, all should be good. May be a sticky cable, run some light oil down it, should be fine.

Does it have The three catches, or just one in the middle?
On mine I recall you can adjust the feet on the catch, of the two outside cathes by turning them. May be different on the ///M.

I had this on mine, latch was starting to seize up. Removed from bonnet and gave it a good clean, removed all the old grease as well. Then used some white grease on the spring. Loads better now!
