Locking Wheelnut location? Found thanks

Post by JonLeeper » Thu Dec 06, 2018 12:50 pm

So my zed came with runflats and clearly always has had them fitted. I want to change them but cannot find the locking wheelnut key. Does anyone have any bright ideas where it might be stored? The dealer I bought it from has no idea and I've looked in as many places as I can think of. So the more obscure the better!

Many thanks,

Jon

Should be in the little tool pouch in the battery box under the boot floor.....

If it is the standard BMW one with internal splines on bolts and external splines on key, you should be able to get a replacement from BMW. Just had to get one for my wife's 3 series because the numbskulls that fitted the tyres gunned the bolts up so tight the one with the car sheared. It cost £11 inc VAT, the bolts should have a code on them.

I've looked there and theres nothing in that cubby hole at all! I didn't realise I should have had a tool roll.

Thabks for that, admit does look like an internal thread on the bolt so hopefully my fallback option isn't too bad!

I assume you have already checked other locations such as rear cubby holes (if you have std stereo), glovebox and first aid box under the passenger seat?

Might also be worth a general check under the seats with a torch!

Rear cubby holes, yes, glove box, yes.

First aid box under the passenger seat? Ok another place I didn't know of! I'll let you know.

Just found the first aid box and it's full of the original first aid kit! Never realised that was there. Thanks.

Just had another really good look in the boot and saw the black tool roll stuffed down the side of the battery. The wheel nut key is there. Many thanks
