Looks lovely but that's a standard M3 front (you can clearly see the fog light which is not present on the CSL) and factory 19" wheels not CSLs :?
Did you post a photo of a different car or something?
OEM 19's (like it appears in you'dads' car?)

CSL 19's plus note the rather different CSL front end.

Anyway it's a wendy house model with the wrong gearbox so who cares

Enjoy the new toy

This is what my Poppa's M3 looked like before he sold it....

Image

The one with my P1 was about 7 years ago and it was in the Winter, so he had the normal M3 wheels on.

On the front, there are the carbon fiber canards etc (Think it was a CSL?).

I didn't have any photos of Poppa's M3 as it usually looked. Just gone into his "office" and transferred some over to my laptop.

I told him time and time and time again not to both getting the soft top, but he likes to pose (his words). The thing is, the colour combonation was just sooooo epic that it was a no brainer. He likes Estoril Blue , but they were common as muck and everyone tries to get the babyshite yellow, as it's rare. The colour of his, I've seen on two other BMW's. One was an late Compact and the other was on an Alpina B3 3.3 Coupe

Don't believe everything your parents tell you 8)
Genuine CSL 'flippers' will not fit onto the regular m3 bumper as your father's car has in the above pic.
Most certainly not 'factory fit'. Anyway, I'm sure you both enjoyed it

Oh, the dealer told my old man about the front. After looking at the pic of the CSL you posted, I noticed a few subtle differences.

It's a shame he had to let it go and get a 2.0 Merc C-Class, on direct orders from mum! I am happy he's also fallen for the Z4M and will be able to enjoy my car with me.

I'm just looking through eBay for Alpina Classic Wheel and Tyre Set , I pulled this info from the Alpina catalog for the Z4.

8 x 18β€œ 225/40 ZR 18 Front
9 x 18β€œ 255/35 ZR 18 Rear
with MICHELIN Pilot Sport 2 tyres including Mobility System
Order No. 36 11 200

I can't find an exact match using this term. There are so many Alpina classic sets for sale, I was wondering if a staggered 18" set that has come off say an E90 D3/B3 , would fit my E85 Z4M?

I want to avoid the wheels looking too big for the arches, so should I be looking at 17" and 18" wheels? Are the 19" wheels going to be too big for the car and ruin the ride? I've made the mistake of going a size to big before on one of my old E30's and realised they made the car look cheap/gaudy with wheels too big for the car.

Most sets I've come across are staggered, does this mean my Z4M wheels are going to be staggered as well?

Alpina wheels on an //M ? Don't do it ! Why don't you have a chat with Mr Wilks about sizes and what suits and compliments your black Roadster ?

Alpina wheels are 19”. Can’t understand why you would want to put them on an M though. About as bad as putting M badges on a non M car. Nice looking car by the way, I think carbon black is a great colour. Have a good day tomorrow. :driving:

One reason I want to go for the Alpina Classic's is because it's really different, as the most common wheel I've seen (aftermarket) are either genuine CSL wheels or high quality replicas. I have noticed some nice Z4's that have wheels similar to the CSL's , which suit the car and yet are something fresh.

I'm such a fanboy when it comes to Alpina s**t and it's only gotten worse after owning an Alpina for a number of years.

There is actually one case of Alpina and M being on the same car. It's possibly the rarest of the rare E30's and it's the Alpina B6S. M3 body shell, with an Alpina splitter and the M30 3.5 Straight Six replaces the S14 engine.

I won't be doing any changes this year, as I don't want to ruin them while I am adjusting to things with the car.

I don't suppose anyone is good with Photoshop editing at all, as it would be a great help, so please if someone can mock a pic up of a carbon black Z4M , with the Alpina Classic and any others that forum members would recommend, I would be in your debt.

have to agree without question.
why would you fit alpina wheels to anything other than an alpina.
but each to their own.
your car to do as you wish.
but I don't think you will get any encouragement on the forum.
enjoy it anyway. :)

Just picked up the car and drove home. Was really impressed with how tight the gearbox felt, was like a smooth bolt action enfield! It's so nice to be able to sit low in a car and finally be able to see things like traffic lights, without having to bend in odd angels to see!

If you like Alpinas so much I don't understand why you didn't buy an Alpina S Roadster. Very similar performance to the //M but Alpina engine, interior, bodykit AND wheelsπŸ‘

I really couldn't stretch my budget to an Alpina and I really wanted to have the S54 engine. There were a few other minor things that made me go for the M. Even though it is my car, it's going to be used by all 3 of us (well 2 really) and I know my dad would enjoy the M, as he never really understood why I like Alpina as much as I did.

One big hurdle I faced was how far I would have to travel just to look at either an M or Alpina, as my spinal problems limit the amount of time I can manage in a car. I was looking at round trips of about 100-120 miles, which just didn't appeal to me in the slightest!

I looked at this one before buying mine but I was more partial to the Interlagos or Imola Red, which I went for.

Well done, mate. Enjoy it  :driving:
