Z4 cornering fogs?

Post by JINGLE » Sat Nov 17, 2018 8:18 pm

Hi all, just wondered if the cornering lights are possible with the fogs on the E85/86?

They seem quite standard in this day and age (my mums Citroen Picasso does it and she didn’t even realise)

Anybody know if it’s possible or can be coded in etc?

I doubt the software exits in the ECU, as it’s a fad that I only seem to remember starting in 2010

I messaged Neil an the fogs are wired as one so as you indicate either way it cause both to come on, I suppose it could be done but you'd be going into rewiring an relays an stuff an not just coding it to work

I hate it - I find them annoying and does it actually make much difference to the vision ahead?

Not really sure, I’ve never had a car that does it but when I drove my mums Picasso and had a particularly tight corner to take into a driveway they really helped.

Probs not worth it on our Zs but was worth an ask on the off chance I could have tried it if it was a coded option

They may help at slow speeds I suppose but I suspect they're programmed to come on at all speeds.
It may be me but they just don't do anything for my symetrical OCD !

If you need to take a tight corner and need more light from your fog light to do it, try pressing one of the buttons under the main light switch :P

I believe most are designed to only work at speeds of < 40 MPH (or thereabouts)

I've got this foglight feature on my Touareg, it's useless in my view and looks pretty naff from the outside.
However, its also got steering headlights which swing from side to side in relation to steering wheel movement (though not quite the extreme movement of the old Citroen DS). I'm not sure they really improve forward vision that much, but the effect looks pretty cool when viewed from inside the cockpit!
Start the day with a smile, get it over with.

Ahh well, was worth an ask :)

Like I say, only ever noticed it in mums Picasso on particularly tight corner so would most probs be pointless so no loss :)

My old Lexus Soarer had them as standard, I found them pretty useless to be honest.
