MOT Failure
1) I'm an idiot and mixed up the drivers side and offside.
Point still stands, the light sensor is on the drivers side. They looked on the passenger side, and couldnt find it, assumed it had been removed and issued an mot.

Assuming you're in UK, driver's side IS offside. Passenger side is nearside.
Are you saying that one headlight failed and when you took it back they checked the wrong headlight and passed it?
If so, great... but you've still got a broken headlight
