Just buy the Varta E44, it fits, vent pipe in right place, 5 yr warranty and great quality.

Exide ought to be OK too - my BMW Indy told me that's who made the BMW OEM ones.

I always thought my E85 was manufactured in the states but the MOT tester was adamant that the chassis number on mine was German. He even looked it up somehow on his PC and it showed German manufacture.

To my knowledge all e85/86 were state built. I posted a video link a while back on a factory tour. The engine/drive train were built in Germany and shipped to the states for final assembly.
