Exhaust?

Post by Mc27ski » Sun Sep 23, 2018 8:50 pm

Hi All

I have a 3.0litre which is really quiet unless you drive it hard. Has anyone got any recommendations for a new exhaust without breaking the bank or has anyone done the back box delete?
I just want to let a bit more of the roar out without the chavy droan

Sound clips would be great
Thanks

Depending on where you live Ducklakeview in Merseyside does modified back boxes that quite a few on here seem to have been pretty pleased with.

One or two have had the backbox deleted, but from what I've read it's pretty loud!
Coupes because stunning!

Have you tried the noise generator mod?

I retrofitted it to mine (not a 3.0) and with both pieces of foam out its so loud that I can't hear my Arqray backbox - which was considerably louder than standard, but not crazy loud or boomy at highway speeds

Considering its a free modification (remove pieces of foam) its worth trying that before any exhaust mods that require spending money?

Noise generator is just to make the cockpit louder though, zedshed / ducklakeview will mod the backbox and make it sound sweeet

Cannot recommend the DLV (Ducklakeview) mod enough tbh, I absolutely love the sound from the car now that it actually sounds like a proper straight 6! Personally I think it sounds better than even full exhaust swaps.

Below is a video from my car with a +40% DLV backbox

Another vote for DLV back box, just enough extra noise and no annoying drone. Mike at the Zedshed mods the existing back box on an exchange basis, either fitted by him in Liverpool or supplied for home fit by courier on an exchange basis.

I used the exchange method and fitted at home, it requires some cutting of the exhaust on the car however Mike provides a high quality connecting bracket that is a dawdle to fit the whole process took me about 30mins

defos do the sound generator mod... takes literally 2 minutes under the bonnet to pull the pipe connecting the intake box and the cabin off at the cabin end, remove a 2" by 1" piece of foam and refit. its the best of mods - free, effective and reversible if you don't like it!

I don't get the point of the sound generator mod, what's the point of deafening yourself in the cockpit but to everyone else it's still a sports car with a quiet exhaust.
