Cam cover question - gasket

Post by Lance » Sun Sep 23, 2018 5:48 pm

Can't put it off any longer! The gasket is leaking and the burning oil smell is annoying!

Has anyone replaced the gasket with the ECP version rather than the genuine BMW part? If so, was it up to the job?

TIA
Lance

Cam cover question - gasket

I think mine was 3rd party gasket and as long as you supplement the corners and half circles at the front end with some gasketmaker paste and pattern tighten the cover bolts u should be reet.

Mine was leaking like a geriatrics tenalady before i replaced it just under 2 years ago.
Also replaced the oil filter housing gasket at the same time.
Hasn't spilled a drip since.
I made a mammoth thread somewhere if u can find it back. Has some pics too.
Good luck

I fitted a Febi Bilstein gasket and used JB Weld RTV on the half moons when I changed mine in April '17 and it's been drip free since.
