Sports Seats

Post by weeksyz4 » Sun Sep 23, 2018 10:11 am

Morning all,

I'm thinking of refurbishing the seats in my e85. They're heated, electric, leather seats but they're tired and need repairing or reupholstering. Before I do though, I was wondering if I should replace them with sports seats.

I don't find the regular seats that comfortable if I'm completely honest. Are sports seats more comfortable? If so, how much should I expect to pay for a pair of them?

Thanks!

I wouldn't spend money refurbing the standard sports seats. The 'M sports seats' are far better, however they aren't cheap and are rare - expect to pay from £700 upwards for a good condition heated electric pair.
Just to be clear - your standard seats are in fact called 'sports seats', it's the M Sports Seats that I would recommend.

Yes they're the ones, and a typical price unfortunately. I paid £750 for mine

Thanks Marlon. Do you find them a lot more comfortable than the standard seats?

No just time consuming. Key things are to lower roof if convertible. Lower windows. Set seat to remove bolts. I tend to do rear first. Then move seat remove front. Set seat a fairly high and upright. Disconnect battery. I wait about 20 mins then . Then rock back to remove connector and remove seats. Ps don’t shut the boot!

Yes, I went to great lengths to swap out my manual non heated sports seats for heated electric M sports seat

Wow, that is dedication! Thanks Marlon. My current seats are heated and electric, so I'm hoping it would be a fairly easy plug in and play swap.

If you don’t want to upgrade but are looking for replacement black electric & heated Sport seats in great condition (rather then refurbishment) then drop me a PM - I recently bought a set off the forum for a project but it looks like they are probably too wide to fit, so will be looking to resell in the near future.

I have a pair of Msport seats im considering selling if you are interested? They are black leather, heated and have manual adjustments ( which i understand means the seats actually sit a little lower than the electric versions). I am more than happy to fit these for you as part of any deal. Im based in Stoke on Trent, but could deliver if needed. PM me if you are interested. 👍

Thread hijack. How easy it it to convert non electric to electric? I have electric currently but want to know if I could buy non electric and convert.
