Update my stereo on E85

Post by Angel » Mon Aug 20, 2018 11:04 am

Bought a new Joying brand android stereo in my E85:https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-10-25 ... -32gb.html,this is the first time that I try Chinese brand stereo,I am very satisfied with this product.

The performance specs say it all. 8-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 32GB of storage. This is basically an Android tablet with an AM/FM tuner, 4-channel amp and 4-channel preamp and mono subwoofer outputs. There are also stereo RCA line inputs. Unlike many car-based systems and aftermarket touch-screen products, the Joying responds as quickly as you’re used to with your smartphone and the 1280x480 high-resolution screen is very vibrant. It takes about 30 seconds to boot, but only 2 seconds to wake. You can have it sleep for two days so when you turn on the key, it’s instantly on, which I assume will be great for when you use a backup camera which I have already ordered and will be installing soon. I think it’ll shut down after two day of no use. For the most part, everything runs at 60fps! Phone call quality is very good over Bluetooth and sounds better over Carplay.

Traditionally I haven't liked AM head units in facia adapters, they never look very good. I kinda quite like the way the display looks like it obscures the facia completely so you don't have to look at the facia adapter.

I'm really liking this! Did you need to do anything special to get it working or was it just plug and play so to speak?

I got the 10.1" a year ago. It's really good, albeit a bit clonky at times. It might have an octa-core thingy, but it's no lightning! Overall happy with it. I am thinking of relocating the touch screen where the old dash top flip up screen goes (my car came with the optional sat nav, which as we all know is a relic).

Do these units work with the steering wheel controls? Did you have to get an adaptor? If so, what adaptor is needed? Thinking of getting one of these.

Like this, Not tooooo big and fits with a single DIN.

Do you buy a SIM to connect it to the internet and stream music/get google maps, almost perfect if it can!

Well done

Many thanks for posting this as it isone of thet head units I was considering and very pleased with how it looks.

Would be interested to know how you get on with the interface and apps in everyday use. Being Android it does mean you can have OBD unit in the car and Torque Pro software running.

The other similar alternative is the Alpine ilx f903d which has the same single Din configuration with a big screen, but supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

I also like the fact that it doesn't block the centre vents too much.

Did you ever find an option to remove the relic of a sat nav?
